I was in education for 50 years. I have taught elementary school (grades 6,7, 8). The subjects I taught were reading, social studies, English, spelling, and health and physical education. When I left teaching, I went into school administration as a principal and a superintendent.
The latter part of my career was spent as a university professor. I have taught at the University of Scranton, the State University of New York, NOVA University of Fort Lauderdale, FL(distance learning), and Bloomsburg University of PA, where I spent 24.5 years. I believe that every child is entitled to a GREAT appropriate education.
I have majored in English and minored in education. Additionally, I have published about 40 articles in refereed journals.
I am interested in helping people who have missed out on educational opportunities. My father had to quit school in tenth grade to work in the coal mines. His GED helped him get some interesting and good paying jobs.
I have been reading extensively on historical subjects for many years. As an elementary teacher, I taught social studies, which included historical topics.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have published about 50 articles in professional journals, and I have made about the same number of professional presentations.
