In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in InDesign in my career for the last 7 years. Originally I was taught QuarkXPress, so it was a great upgrade to work with InDesign, where transferring files from Photoshop and Illustrator was made much more smoothly. I have worked in every InDesign from CS 2 to the current Creative Cloud.
I have taken basic drawing, illustration, 2D design and Advanced 2D media as college courses. I have also held a one-cell daily comic blog, and am currently working on coloring book illustrations. I feel drawing is one of my stronger suits.
I majored in graphic design and have made my living from it. From logo design to marketing support materials, newspaper advertisements to web banners, I have experience in the real-world workplace with clients. I was also the head tutor for graphic design in college, recommended by the head of the art department.
I have taken Black and White photography, Advanced Black and White photography, Color photography, and digital photography as college courses. Additionally, I have photographed five weddings, two actor headshots, three couples photoshoots, multiple products for online sales, and photography is a hobby of mine that I enjoy while traveling. I learned photography using a 35mm camera and can explain f-stops, ISOs, aperture, shutter speeds, film development and printing, along with aesthetically laying out a photograph.
