Temple University (Secondary Math Ed.)
I am a graduate of Temple University, where I studied Secondary Math Education and Mathematics. I am a certified Math Teacher for grades 7-12 in the state of Pennsylvania. I am currently working as a Long-Term Substitute, teaching Mathematics, at Pennsbury High School, where I am also the Assistant Mathletes Coach. While at Temple, I was an active member of the Math Club, and I served as the Secretary for one term. I also worked in two different tutoring centers at Temple, the Resnick Academic Support Center for Student Athletes, and at the Math and Science Resource Center. Since I graduated, I have done freelance tutoring for a multitude of high school and college math courses, and SAT and ACT prep. I find great joy in helping students understand math, when they have not understood it in the past. I also love helping students regain their confidence in math.
I specialize in tutoring Mathematics for the following levels and courses: High School: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus (Analysis in some High Schools), Calculus (AP or non-AP)
College: Any Algebra Course, Any Pre-Calculus Course, Any Calculus Course of one variable only (i.e. no Multi-Variable Calculus)
Tests: SAT Math, ACT Math, GRE Math, Praxis Math
I hold myself to a high standard, and I often ask for feedback from students on their tutoring sessions. I try to be flexible with time. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but I try to offer make-up tutoring sessions if possible. I generally meet students at their houses, at a coffee shop, or library in the area.
I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you to hopefully achieve success in your studies! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching for 3 years, and I have taught Algebra 2 every year. I have taught every level of Algebra 2 (from Honors Freshmen to low-level Seniors, and everything in between).
I tutored Calculus for all four years of college, and I have continued with it regularly since graduating.
I have taught and/or tutored Geometry for all 3 years of my teaching experience. I have taught multiple levels, and tutored all levels.
