Hi! My name is Jennifer and I have been a teacher and high school guidance counselor for fifteen years. I love working with students of all ages, abilities and exceptionalities. My areas of expertise include English (elementary and secondary), college writing, SAT preparation, resume and cover letter building, as well as Reading, Study Skills and Speech. What makes me unique is that I can truly and cheerfully work with all students and find a way to teach them that incorporates how they learn most naturally while still building upon what challenges them. I am patient, nurturing and can reach the most reticent/difficult students. I look forward to working with your child! Hi! Jennifer tutored my daughter for SAT reading and writing section. My daughter will not take SAT till fall of this year, so it's too soon to tell about score improvement, but my daughter likes her approach and feels that she is making progress, especially in the reading comprehension section. Jennifer is patient, gives a very thorough review of the session at the end of it and is super flexible with scheduling of sessions. We plan to use her again.
She is pushing my kids without them feeling pushed. She knows how to nurture them and they really like working with her. Amazing!
Jennifer was an awesome tutor to have! She was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job helping my son with his English paper. I definitely will be using Jennifer again in the near future. Not only for my son but to help out with my other kids!! I definitely recommend Jennifer!
Would highly recommend this tutor. Very energetic, productive, and connects to her students well. Seems to quickly pick up on individual strengths and weaknesses.
Jennifer helped my daughter prepare her essays for the Common App and her other college applications. The stress was off me, and it was well worth it! Jennifer is very knowledgeable in the application process. She turned some negative perspectives my daughter had about herself into positive ones. My daughter enjoyed working with Jennifer immensely. Jennifer would continue the task at hand until it was completed for that session. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Jennifer.
Jennifer is an absolutely amazing tutor! I had Jennifer help me in editing my graduate school essays for multiple schools! She was very easy to get in contact with and to work with. We worked together in person and electronically. She was very helpful and truly did a fantastic job in editing my papers and gave me great feedback. I recommend her without hesitation and will continue to use her assistance in the future!
Jennifer W. was extremely professional, patient, and knew EXACTLY how to assist my daughter with her SAT critical reading exam. She customized a study plan for my daughter based on her learning needs in an easy and concise manner. We are very impressed with Jennifer's way of teaching.
Jenn is tutoring my 12 and 14 year old daughters. From the moment she walks through our door, she is smiling and enthusiastic. She really gets to know her students one-on-one, so she can teach them in the manner which is most effective for each child.
She is extremely smart and has made learning fun for my kids. I have tried other tutors and have found NO ONE that comes close to Jenn. And, because she travels to our home, she has freed me up from having to drive somewhere twice a week. She is punctual and always ready to reschedule if we have other plans. She emails and calls (even when off duty) to see how the girls are doing. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a tutor for their child.
We engaged Jennifer to help get our daughter ready for an upcoming SAT and Jennifer canceled on us the morning of a session and didn't show up for 2 other sessions leading to our daughter losing momentum in preparing for the SAT.
For the record, she knew her stuff the one time she showed up but we would have preferred her honesty on the lack of her ability to keep appointments.
I am very, very passionate about what I do. I truly love tutoring! Unfortunately, there seems to be a divergence in our communication on scheduling appointments. I did contact Mary to reschedule my missed appointment and was told she would follow up. I did have an emergency that necessitated one appointment being missed. As customers can see from my reviews, I keep appointments except for emergencies like loss of power in one's house or inclement weather.
Jennifer brings a lot of enthusiasm and variety to her tutoring. She makes learning fun which is so apparent when Jennifer and my daughter are together.
Jennifer is pleasant, smart, and always an email or phone call away. Jennifer effectively evaluated my son's needs in preparation for his ACTs. She has provided the confidence in our son to be well prepared for his standardized tests. My son looks forward to the 2 hour a week study sessions and does not find it a chore. After 4 sessions he improved his scores in an ACT/SAT practice test. We will continue to use Jennifer till April 2014 in preparation for the ACTs. Since Jennifer helped our son improve his scores in both the ACT and SAT he will probably take both. I highly recommend Jennifer for tutoring. Our experience has been outstanding! Her hours are flexible and her advise during this stressful time is par none.
Jennifer is a great tutor for students who need a guide to understand their strengths and weaknesses and work off of them. She has energy and passion for getting her students to where they need to be for success. Jennifer relates extremely well to her students and connects with them to form a teaching/learning relationship that is invaluable. Jennifer is very professional, has great communication skills and was a joy to work with!
Jennifer is an excellent tutor. Well organized and prepared, also communicates very well with the student. My Daughter is working with Jennifer to prepare for SATs and is very happy and gaining confidence.
Jennifer is an excellent tutor. She is very patient, understanding and she knows her material. I highly recommend her. My son does not care for 4th grade English writing but once she started teaching him, he has developed interest and is more patient in English writing. She makes learning fun for my son. I couldn't have asked for a better tutor.
She is awesome and very patient. She knows what she is doing and how to organize the students and put them on track. She has a great deal of information about colleges and applications.
Jennifer W was a very helpful and patient tutor with my son. She was able to help him with his ACT questions and provide him with helpful strategies for taking the test. I would highly recommend Jennifer.
My son improved his PSAT scores by taking 2 classes, we will be taking her support in the SAT prep too. Great Tutor and connects with the student immediately.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a public school educator for fifteen years, I have worked with many students who have specific learning issues. Specifically, students with Adhd and ADD have increased success with strategies that can be utilized in a tutoring situation such as teaching students to use calendars, schedules and assist students with organizational habits. Even involvement in sports can help students learn discipline!
