In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My educational background includes nuclear engineering and physics at the graduate school level. As a registered engineer for more than 30 years I have frequently used all forms of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus to solve real life engineering problems. I can explain the mathematical concepts using physical examples.
I am a licensed mechanical engineer. I worked more than thirty years doing mechanical equipment and fluid systems specification and design. I taught engineering thermodynamics at Penn State. I have 8 patents and have authored numerous peer reviewed technical journal articles.
