I briefly also worked as teacher for a weekend school program for four years. Through my own education I have gained a variety of experience in the various styles and methodologies of teaching and tutoring throughout high school, college and now medical school.

I look forward to working with each of my students and my peers, teaching them and learning from them. My goal is always to (1) help create a firm understanding of the material and clarify any confusing material and (2) help develop a sustainable way to tackle the problem that can be applied to various types of problems. As a tutor I love and encourage an open discussion style of session. I love questions because that really tells me what my student has learned--and it's a GREAT tool for clearing up confusing points!

As an undergraduate at Haverford College I was a TA in both the Biology and Chemistry Departments as well as a peer tutor with the Department of Academics in all the generic sciences. I maintained the position for all four years gaining a variety of experience and teaching techniques. Currently, I am medical student, and facilitate weekly department organized groups for biochemistry, genetics, immunology, physiology and have peer tutored students in general biology, microbiology and pathology, anatomy.

I consider it a fact that every problem can be tackled--one just has to have the right tools and the right mindset and sometimes a little help on the side. If there are any questions, or if you would like to learn more about my teaching style or credentials, or schedule lessons, feel free to contact me anytime and I will be happy to answer any queries!

I encourage feedback from my students to always continue to improve as a tutor. I charge no cancellation fees, because as a student myself I know how hectic and busy our schedules can be. As long as you give me a heads-up, I am open to rescheduling the session!

I began tutoring as a profession in high school at a learning Center and have continued to tutor elementary (and upper grade) students privately and via tutoring organizations in reading comprehension, elementary math, sciences for over 10 years now. I worked as an administrator and teacher at a local school for a few years. Over time I have developed the content knowledge and strategies required for teaching and engaging with young students. My goal with every student is to help them develop a proactive attitude towards learning, develop time management skills, help them figure out their best learning method alongside learning the content material.

I began tutoring as a profession in high school at a learning Center and have continued to tutor elementary (and upper grade) students privately and via tutoring organizations in reading comprehension, elementary math, sciences for over 10 years now. During that time I worked with many home schooled students and have even taught kids in my community throughout their elementary to now high school level years. Over time I have developed the content knowledge and strategies required for teaching and engaging with young students. Motivation and time management skills are key for self learning, and thus self-learning can often be the rewarding experience. Kids, early on develop these key skills that have a huge impact later on in life. My goal with every student is to help them develop a proactive attitude towards learning, develop time management skills, help them figure out their best learning method alongside learning the content material.

My focus in pharmacology is as a medical student and as such medications, adverse effects, phamacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of medications, indications and contraindications are part of my knowledge. My approach to teaching pharmacology is based on grouping and learning drugs based on these criteria. However each student approaches the learning of drug names and effect in different ways and I my first step if to figure out the best learning method for each pharmacology student.

Test Preparation

USMLE,

USMLE

I am a medical student and tutor with my medical school's department of educational services. I have passed my USMLE step 1 with a solid score and I'd like to help you reach your score goal! The step 1 is all about preparation, planning, and knowledge. Unlike many other tests the USMLE step 1 emphasizes your knowledge of the subject matter. Its also crucial for students to make ASSOCIATIONS! Practice questions, study material, tests are designed such that a student who is able to connect a disease presentation with a histological description, or a disease with a risk factor of another associated disease is going to succeed. My job is to help students get to this point. A second issue that many students struggle with is finding and limiting themselves to the right resources. The rule of thumb is always to limit yourself to the best and the fewest resources (unless an extensive review of some topic or material is need, in which case I can guide you to the correct resource). I have worked with students to design their study plan for the test, because often having a rigorous pace and not prolonging the test date is going to allow you to remember your material and score better. I specialize in tutoring biochemistry, immunology, general and systems pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology for the step as well as behavioral sciences. I look forward to working with you!

Very knowledgeable and was great in listening to my current needs for advanced pharm

She is able to pick out the important things to really get into your head for tests and later on down the road. Very knowledgeable about the subject! She also is knowledgeable about Simmons and other colleges and what they may like to highlight as main points to have the student know.

Great Class!

Today was our last class. My Mom thoroughly enjoyed every single session she had with Yumna who has been a very patient and great teacher. Her classes have helped my Mom being able to engage in simple English conversations. She is also a lot more confident now than she was at the start of the classes. Thanks, Yumna!
