Art Institute of Pittsburgh (Visual Communication)
I am interested in tutoring children and adults in reading. I have a strong belief that too many individuals are not fully educated in reading or need some extra tutoring.
I also have an associate's degree in Visual Communications (Commercial Art) from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I draw and paint animal portraits and animals in their natural habitat. I love animals and have been told there is warmth in my work.
Last, I enjoy teaching phonetic reading. I did volunteer tutoring for the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, teaching adults to read who were reading at an elementary level. I put a lot of time into making up puzzles, teaching vowels, consonants and consonant blends with various reading material. My greatest achievement was when one of my adult male students wanted to be able to read a library book to his three year old son. I assisted him in getting a library book in the children's section and he managed to read it slowly and completely, using the rules and principles I taught him. I am very compassionate about helping individuals to read and open up their world through reading. I teach with gusto, patience and a sense of humor to hold their interest. They will get some homework and we will review it next session before going on to something new.

She is covering vowel sounds with Aiden right now. She is very patient with him as he is easily distracted and cannot focus for long periods of time.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an associate degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in Visual Communications. This is a commercial art. I have training in drawing, painting, etc. I would love to use my talent and education in art therapy for special needs children.
I have tutored for the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. My students were adults who were reading at a 1st - 2nd grade level. I was happy to achieve results with the students reading phonically and proficiently. I am also conscious of proper grammar and pronunciation. I do love to work with children using a fresh start approach. I am willing to teach elementary math, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I have a high school diploma and an associate degree in visual communications. I live in Wilkens Township.
I have an associate's degree in visual communications or commercial art. I volunteered at St. Anthony's School in Oakmont, PA teaching simple drawing art as a therapy.
I believe in teaching phonetic reading. Some words are "sight" words and are immediately recognized, other words need to be sounded out phonetically, using long and short vowels, consonants and consonant blends and other rules, otherwise the words look like a foreign language. I have tutored for the Pittsburgh Literacy Council and have had great success teaching this method.
I personally love to read and work crossword puzzles. I enjoy anything with words and believe in teaching phonetically.
