I have taught classroom math at almost every level between pre-algebra and calculus, including a foray into statistics, and my work as a graduate student in math education has been incorporated into a university course, but my true educational enjoyment comes from one-on-one tutoring.

My goal as a tutor is to inspire confidence in students and enable them to independently resolve math problems, even the application word-problems that are emphasized by the latest state requirements. I incorporate procedural practice as well as problem-solving tasks that require deeper thinking in order to help students develop a solid understanding of material. I also include vocabulary work to improve students' mathematical communication.

With experience teaching math to students in middle school, high school, and college, I recognize the discouragement that comes from years of math struggle as well as the misconceptions that students often bring to the secondary math subjects. I endeavor to know my students as well-rounded individuals and to make math more enjoyable and clear by relating it to their preferred activities.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to improve your math capabilities!

Outstanding Tutor

I can’t say enough about the great job Megan has done with my son in helping him prepare for the SATs. We were in crunch mode as the SATs were less than a month away without a plan of attack. From the initial email and then follow-up conversation I knew Megan was a true professional that care about her work and it showed throughout the process. She immediately developed a plan (prior to the first session) that provided assignments with links to the various web sites for my son to study in advance of their meetings along with providing follow-up reports after each session. We were so impressed with Megan that after my son completed his SAT test in August, we immediately signed him up to take the test again in October and secured Megan to continue her services as we knew the initial time she had was short and with the additional month my son could only get better results. Thanks Megan for a great job, much appreciated!

Engaged, prepared and knowledgeable tutor!

My son has being working with Megan on preparation for Math and English SAT and finds the lessons to be very valuable and worthwhile. He seems to be able to understand her way of explaining the lessons they are working on. She is very prepared and utilizes online resources and preparation materials directly related to the current SAT. As a parent, she keeps me informed on the lessons and provides detailed reviews on what they covered and what they will be doing next session. Very impressed so far!
