Born and raised in the Pittsburgh-area, I bring a hard-working mentality to my artistic endeavors, especially my grasp of the English language. My experience spans the indie film and off-Broadway facets of the entertainment industry in NYC, and my tenure at educational arts programs (such as the Jacob Krueger Studio (for writers) and the Barrow Group theatre program) have exposed me to various teaching styles, allowing me to develop my own pedagogy. With an MA in Theater and a BA in Film Production, I am well-versed in various writing formats. What's more, I'm actively writing every day, and understand how to combat writer's block and the filters of the conscious mind that often get in the way of recording thoughts on the page.

Writing and reading have always been my strongest subjects academically and intellectually. I have had a firm grasp on MLA format and thesis-based writing from my time in undergraduate and grad school, where I not only prepared my own work, but also went out of my way to tutor my peers. Apart from my work with education-based coaching in the arts (mentioned in bio above), I have been actively writing and producing my own material, whether for screen, stage, radio, or web, for fifteen years. What's more, my experience in graduate school strengthened my foundation in reading comprehension and text analysis, and my time at Jacob Krueger Studio exposed me to at least a half-dozen forms of English pedagogy because of how closely I worked with the industry-professional instructors there (i.e. Emmy-winning TV writer Jerry Perzigian & Pulitzer author Stephen Molton).

For more information, please feel free to reach out! Finding a mentor who grooves with your style of study is paramount to your academic endeavors. Because I believe strongly in that, I'm always willing to do a short virtual consultation at no cost (20 minutes max) so you can better understand how I work.

Film,

Film

At age 17, I specifically chose an undergrad program that taught me how to properly shoot on & expose 16mm and 35mm film. Throughout my education, I had the privilege to shoot short film projects on Arri motion picture cameras with 16mm b&w stock, 16mm color reversal stock, and 35mm color reversal stock (primarily Kodak). I have edited processed film on a Steinbeck, a niche skillset many young filmmakers will never experience. I have also worked as assistant camera operator on three indie film projects and served as Asst. Director and Swing Crew on another. Furthermore, I have an extensive vocabulary of international film history with a specialty in 20th Century Special Effects techniques such as stop-motion, go-motion, forced perspective, puppetry, kit-bashing & miniatures, etc.
Theater,

Theater

I've worn many hats in the world of theater for academic, regional, and off-Broadway venues. My theatre highlights include work with 2 Broadway management companies (producers), stage crew for the off-Broadway shows "Peter and the Star Catcher" and "Clever Little Lies," technical work and management for The Barrow Group, Labyrinth Theater, and Cherry Lane in NYC. Performance highlights include Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz, Lord Byron in "Bloody Poetry," Francois in Charles Mee's "Summertime," and as multiple roles for a staged reading of the play "Good," where I was coached and directed by Tony-winning actor Alan Cumming.
Video Production

Video Production

Video & film were my primary focus of my undergraduate studies. After university, I lived and worked in New York City, tackling every aspect of film and TV production, from Production Assistant to Production Manager. I have worked on set as a performer, camera operator, assistant director, grip, sound assistant, etc. Resume available upon request.

Engaging, current with software and able to work accross platforms and age gaps.

Brent is highly organized, enthusiastic and easy to communicate with. He is guiding me through the first steps of working in Premiere Pro and is able to do so expertly via Zoom. He is familiar with many generations of the program and can work equally well with Mac and PC users. He is also a supporter of a variety of creative content and genres and will help you embark on your own creative film projects.
