Cedar Crest College
My name is Karyn, and I currently live in Macungie, PA. I have lived in Lehigh County all of my life and attended schools here. I graduated high school in 1983 from William Allen High School, and I graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Cedar Crest College. I also earned a Secondary Teaching Certificate. I have been working in education since 1988 when I started substitute teaching. I have worked in various districts in the area. I also worked at Sylvan Learning Center for seven years as a tutor. I have worked many hours of private tutoring in the past 20+ years. I also worked for Allentown Business School teaching various math courses and I currently work with at-risk students for Community Service Foundation/Buxmont Academy in Sellersville. I teach/tutor all levels of math from General Math to Calculus.
I will do all I can to help students get up to speed on their math courses. I have a lot of extra materials to use if necessary. I am patient and kind and really do care about all of the students I work with. I feel that I can do a great job. I am available to tutor in the afternoon and early evenings. I could be available on a Saturday but only in the early afternoon. My name is Karyn, and I currently live in Macungie, PA. I have lived in Lehigh County all of my life and attended schools here. Karyn was a very nice tutor who was able to prepare my son for a midterm with ease
My son felt confident for the first time in a while going into a test
She responded quickly and was flexible with hours
On Thursday she taught me about about Relations and Functions, Linear and Nonlinear Functions, Intercepts, Slope and Slope-intercepts form. She helping me accomplish the pre-algebra textbook from chapter 8 and the first few chapter of Algebra 1.
Just the fact that my son felt a load had been lifted off him after just one session, tells me that Karyn was a good choice. She knows her stuff, and she seems to really want her students to succeed. Patient and pleasant.
Great math tutor! Very flexible to meet our needs. Has made a positive impact in just a handful of sessions.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
