I taught all levels of Biology at a High School for sixteen years. I recently moved from Montgomery County to Chester County. The commute to my school became too much, and my preference is to work closer to my current home. My school received many accolades, including the Governor’s Excellence Award. Our rank was helped greatly by our Biology Keystone scores. My growth index score of 5.6 out of 6 was among the highest of Biology teachers in Pennsylvania.
It is important to note that I worked with the state to write the Project Based Biology Keystone Assessment and the Biology Anchors Vocabulary. Also, of import is that I played an integral role in increasing our Biology Keystone Scores by bringing new and research tested ways to express the Pennsylvania Biology Anchors without teaching to the test. As well, I am a patented genetic engineer who worked at E.I. DuPont and University of Maryland research labs prior to becoming a teacher. The new STEM curriculum and the common core standards are also familiar to me.
Using my teacher web page I share a daily syllabus to help students manage their time. Technology is a major portion of my lesson design and I have used smart technology for many years in my classroom. I work to remediate struggling students through differentiated instruction. I often work with biology students who are low achieving to improve their leadership skills improving student engagement and achievement.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught biology for 15 years.
