About Sukhgewanpreet

I’m currently the president of the mechanical engineering honor society, Pi Tau Sigma, and a member of the engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi, at New York University. We work hands on with students younger than us in order to ease them into college life. I love to tutor because it’s what helped me to learn and succeed in my own academic career, allowing me to graduate in the top 5 of my high school class and later go on to publish papers as an undergraduate researcher.

Tutoring has always been a passion of mine. I love being there when a student finally understands a concept and watching their frustration turn to satisfaction and even relief! For me, tutoring is not just a learning experience for the students, it’s a learning experience for myself. Working as a tutor has allowed me to see math and physics concepts from multiple points of view and I always look forward to spreading this knowledge with others.

I’ve taught math and physics to dozens of students from middle school up to the graduate level. These courses have included pre-algebra, algebra, linear algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, multivariable calculus, and differential equations, as well as statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and circuit analysis.

I’m experienced and comfortable working one on one and in large group environments. I’m a hands on learner and that translates into my analogous teaching style. A student of mine can expect real-world examples and analogies that are catered to their own individual needs. Tell me what interests you and I’ll help you make that personal connection to concepts in physics and math!

I’m pretty flexible when it comes to my availability. I only ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations of all in-person sessions.

Feel free to contact me with any questions and I’ll respond as soon as I can!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have used algebra 1 in my studies and work. I have taught the subject to students from 7th graders to 10th graders.

Algebra 2

I have used algebra 2 in many other classes and work. I have taught students for many years in that class.
