University of Pennsylvania (Master's)
Hello, my name is Tanya. I am 36 years old, married, and a mother of two children. Currently, I work a full time job at the University of Pennsylvania as a research technician in the field of entomology. I have had many years of experience sharing my scientific knowledge with children and students. I am most interested in insects, ecology and aquatic ecosystems, but I have a general knowledge of most biological sciences.
Understanding science is a key element in understanding this world, and yet it is filled with difficult concepts some people are unable to grasp. I think breaking down these complex ideas into smaller blocks of understanding would yield a better understanding. I would be very excited to help any student understand the beauty and complexity of nature via books, internet supplementation, but most of all, field trips. I think that putting the subject they are learning about directly in front of their eyes and into their hands will make the biggest impression.

Tanya assisted me with Biology. She did a great job. She prepared ahead of time and some useful reference material. She was very nice.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My undergraduate degree is in Biology. My classes included Genetics, Ecology, Biostatistical Analysis, Entomology and Integrated Pest Management. I have worked for the past 10 years for the University of Pennsylvania in the Biology Department. I have a varied understanding of Biolgy.
I have taken college level courses in Botany (Botany, Aquatic Ecology) when I attended West Chester University. My current employment requires basic knowledge of food plant and host interactions. I enjoy gardening and have worked on a farm last summer.
During my undergraduate studies, I took many classes that focused on the various aspects of ecology. They include aquatic biology, vertebrate ecology, ecology, and population biology. I currently work for one of the foremost experts in the field of ecology today, Dr. Daniel Janzen at the University of Pennsylvania.
I have worked in the laboratory for Dr. Daniel Janzen, a tropical ecologist specializing in biodiversity conservation, at the University of Pennsylvania for over 10 years. I have a undergraduate degree in Biology, where I took classes that emphasized zoology and ecology. My favorite classes were vertebrate ecology, aquatic biology, and entomology. I have a Master's degree that focused on aquatic macroinvertbrates. I volunteered at a wildlife clinic for 2 years, and worked in a veterinary hospital for 5 years.
