About Joseph

Bio

I am an experienced classroom teacher and tutor. I taught calculus-based and algebra-based physics 1 & 2 at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania for seven semesters, receiving good reviews from both colleagues and students. Prior to that, I worked for more than twenty years as a professional physicist in the area of materials characterization (crystal structure, chemistry, material interfaces, nanotechnology). I am patient and ready to listen carefully to the student in order to understand the sources of difficulty.

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I studied algebra I, algebra II and calculus in high school and continued to use these skills in college where, as a physics student, I studied complex variables, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, linear algebra (matrices and operators), and other advanced math topics. I have continued to use these skills in my 20+ year career as a physics researcher and teacher.
Calculus,

Calculus

I learned calculus in my senior year of high school and freshman year in college. As a practicing physicist and occasional tutor I have kept up my skills in the subject. In college I took other advanced math topics including complex variables, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, linear algebra, and a bit of differential geometry.
Physics,

Physics

I have an SB in physics from MIT and a PhD in physics from UC Berkeley. I have worked as a professional physicist for Lawrence Berkeley Lab, University of Houston, Motorola, and Penn State University.
