I have graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. My major was Elementary Ed. with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. Recently, I have taught Kindergarten for 3 years. I have worked as a reading assistant at an elementary school in Bensalem. Also, I have worked in several day care centers as a lead teacher. From all of this experience, I have found that reading/phonics plays an important role in learning. I love working with children, love to see their excitement in learning and like children to have fun while learning. I will help your child who is struggling or will help your child to challenge themselves.

I have also trained in the Orton Gillingham method of reading, spelling and writing. This approach uses the senses such as writing in the sand, writing using bumpy needlepoint surface underneath paper and finger tapping sounds and words with the non dominant hand. The children I tutor really do well with this approach!
In the past, I have taught Kindergarten children for 3 years, 3 year old children and now again, Pre K children. I really enjoy having children succeed in learning. It is so exciting when children learn to read! It is as exciting when a child has failed at a math problem and finally gets how to do it correctly. This is why I tutor to bring confidence, patience and joy of learning into the process.

I can also tutor other subjects in elementary: math, science and social studies. On a personal note, I enjoy teaching VBS at Bensalem United Methodist Church for the last 3 or 4 years. I also attend Bensalem United Methodist Church. I enjoy gardening, reading and walking.

I started with WyzAnt the summer of 2011. I have mostly worked with children who need help with writing, phonics, spelling, reading, multiplication facts, addition and subtraction with renaming. With younger children, I do everything and more to get your child ready for Preschool, Kindergarten or First grade. Skills that younger children learn are counting and recognizing numbers, learning letters and sounds, sight words, recognizing shapes, time, learning the correct form of writing letters and numbers. This has been really rewarding for me and I help build confidence in those I work with! I love tutoring!

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mansfield University. My major was Elementary Education with a concentration in ECE. Throughout working with daycare centers, schools and doing workshops, I have learned and taught phonics. Recently, I have taught a Kindergarten class and have used phonics every day to help the children learn the sounds of vowels and consonants. We also did a lot of rhyming, which also helps with reading. So through my college classes, workshops and through daily use, I am capable of teaching phonics. In November 2014, I have had 30 hours of training in the Orton Gillingham method for phonics and reading. It uses multisensory applications. I can't wait to start using the methods!

Great tutor

Today was Amaya's first tutoring session with Ms. Gail. Side not she has such a great and caring personality that I also asked her to tutor my son Zhyre to get him ahead in his learning. Gail I think that is a great idea I will let her teacher know that I've hired a private tutor and see if she is okay with me giving you her email.

Thanks Neferteria for the wonderful review and it will be my pleasure in helping your children!

Gail is everything I was looking for!!!!

Gail is an awesome teacher! DJ absolutely loves her. She's teaching him everything a 4yr. Old needs to know. My DJ. didn't learn much in the preschool he previously attended so I'm relying on the help of Gail to get Dj ready for preschool in September at Abington Presbyterian preschool. She's very patient and organized, I love her teaching techniques. I plan to continue Dj tutoring through the summer to get him much more prepared for kindergarten for the next school year. I have been bragging about Gail to all my friends. I must admit I was nervous that she wouldn't want to continue tutoring Dj after the first lesson, only because she is basically home schooling Dj and teaching him from the beginning with all the basics. So typically I thought she would feel that it was too much. But nope Gail came right in and is getting Dj right on tract. I'm so relieved that I picked the right teacher for my son. So if you are looking for a awesome tutor that's organized, on time, professional, caring of your childs needs look no further! I give Gail 5 stars!!!

Excellent first session

Gail was fun, organized, and very thorough. I felt she took the time to get to know Jayce. Gail was able to keep his attention. She was interested in his strengths and didn't make it painfully obvious that she was looking for areas of concern. Jayce can be sensitive and Gail was great with him! She was positive and gave him feedback to let him know he is a hard worker and cooperative. We are excited for our session on Thursday. We are confident Jayce will be receiving the type of instruction that will help him with reading and written expression.

Excellent Tutor

Gail is very detailed oriented and comes well prepared with material that fits my son's style of learning. She has great depth in knowledge and very patient with my 7 yr old. I would highly recommend her to any parent who wants to help their child succeed in reading/writing.

Stopped tutor for awhile but she was able to gain my son's focus within a few minutes. Great lesson!!

My son has difficulty focusing on a daily basis but Gail is able to get him back on track and she knows when he's ready to stop. Very patient.

Overreacting

Miss Gail was a very nice lady and was very patient with my grandson at most lessons. Not sure why she quit in the middle of teaching him outside, she said he was disrespectful. I spoke to her on Tuesday and we were supposed to solve the problem on Thursday but instead she text me to tell me that she no longer wanted to teach him. He is only 5 years old and I don't think that any adult would or could be that offended by a 5 year old. I will be requesting a refund on the balance of our payment. Thank You!

Very Good!

My daughter has been meeting with Gail for several months now. Her reading and spelling grades went from 'unsatisfactory' to 'outstanding' in one semester. My daughter is a very sensitive child, needing a lot of patience and encouragement. Gail's kind nature and patience has created a tutoring environment that my daughter looks forward to every week.
