I have graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. My major was Elementary Ed. with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. Recently, I have taught Kindergarten for 3 years. I have worked as a reading assistant at an elementary school in Bensalem. Also, I have worked in several day care centers as a lead teacher. From all of this experience, I have found that reading/phonics plays an important role in learning. I love working with children, love to see their excitement in learning and like children to have fun while learning. I will help your child who is struggling or will help your child to challenge themselves.
In the past, I have taught Kindergarten children for 3 years, 3 year old children and now again, Pre K children. I really enjoy having children succeed in learning. It is so exciting when children learn to read! It is as exciting when a child has failed at a math problem and finally gets how to do it correctly. This is why I tutor to bring confidence, patience and joy of learning into the process.
I can also tutor other subjects in elementary: math, science and social studies. On a personal note, I enjoy teaching VBS at Bensalem United Methodist Church for the last 3 or 4 years. I also attend Bensalem United Methodist Church. I enjoy gardening, reading and walking.
I started with WyzAnt the summer of 2011. I have mostly worked with children who need help with writing, phonics, spelling, reading, multiplication facts, addition and subtraction with renaming. With younger children, I do everything and more to get your child ready for Preschool, Kindergarten or First grade. Skills that younger children learn are counting and recognizing numbers, learning letters and sounds, sight words, recognizing shapes, time, learning the correct form of writing letters and numbers. This has been really rewarding for me and I help build confidence in those I work with! I love tutoring!

Gail is very detailed oriented and comes well prepared with material that fits my son's style of learning. She has great depth in knowledge and very patient with my 7 yr old. I would highly recommend her to any parent who wants to help their child succeed in reading/writing.
She was very knowledge. She was very experience and my son said Ms. Gail am I going to see you again and then he said thanks for helping me.
My son has difficulty focusing on a daily basis but Gail is able to get him back on track and she knows when he's ready to stop. Very patient.
Miss Gail was a very nice lady and was very patient with my grandson at most lessons. Not sure why she quit in the middle of teaching him outside, she said he was disrespectful. I spoke to her on Tuesday and we were supposed to solve the problem on Thursday but instead she text me to tell me that she no longer wanted to teach him. He is only 5 years old and I don't think that any adult would or could be that offended by a 5 year old. I will be requesting a refund on the balance of our payment. Thank You!
Gail teaches my son 3 times a week. She is always well prepared for each lesson. My son loves her!
My daughter has been meeting with Gail for several months now. Her reading and spelling grades went from 'unsatisfactory' to 'outstanding' in one semester. My daughter is a very sensitive child, needing a lot of patience and encouragement. Gail's kind nature and patience has created a tutoring environment that my daughter looks forward to every week.
Gail is working with my 5 year old son to help him learn to read and write. Every week Gail has a new lesson that is creative and engaging. The lesson usually has information presented orally (reading a book or other), visually (identifying words / letters) and physically (coloring or word search activities.) My son looks forward to his lessons and loves to tell his Dad about them when he gets home from work. Gail always leaves a book for him to read between lessons which we read every night, keeping him engaged between sessions.
I give Gail high marks in patience and planning. My little guy is a handful with not a lot of love for schooling. She shows up with her bag stuffed full of fun plans to help him learn and is extremely patient but persistent when he tries every trick he knows to get out of doing things. I've seen a definite improvement in his skill set. Those first few classes don't seem like much, but then it starts to snowball and you can see the difference. Gail is great and I'd recommend her to anyone.
Gail was very organized and professional. She quickly began her session by making my daugther very comfortable. She was able to access my daughter's weakness and layout a great plan to improve them. She made the learning fun and interesting for her, and even ended the session with a game. I will recommend her for any child that needs to "pay more attention" to their work. After the first session my daughter ( who never really liked school work) asked, " when will that nice, fun, and smart teacher come back". In fact, she even did her homework immediately after Gail left. We are lucky to find such an dedicated educator.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mansfield University. My major was Elementary Education. I still take classes and workshops to keep my certificate active with Act 48. I am finishing up a class called "Response to Intervention: Reading Strategies That Work".
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mansfield University. My major was Elementary Education with a concentration in ECE. Throughout working with daycare centers, schools and doing workshops, I have learned and taught phonics. Recently, I have taught a Kindergarten class and have used phonics every day to help the children learn the sounds of vowels and consonants. We also did a lot of rhyming, which also helps with reading. So through my college classes, workshops and through daily use, I am capable of teaching phonics. In November 2014, I have had 30 hours of training in the Orton Gillingham method for phonics and reading. It uses multisensory applications. I can't wait to start using the methods!
