About Michael

Bio

I taught recitations for basic physics courses at Drexel University for two years. While working with engineering, pre-med, and non-physics science majors, I found that each student learns in a unique way. I was always impressed with students who requested help outside of class. The material could be quite frustrating, but I found that combining humor and ridiculous stories with difficult concepts could make the experience both productive and enjoyable.

For several summers, I interned as a Windows Programmer in C. Other interns had no experience in C before, so I worked with them to relate concepts from Java to C. My general outline is to teach a concept of the language, provide an example, then assign a small project that the student can work on while using me as resource.

C++,

C++

I took C++ classes for several years, and assisted many of my classmates on understanding their assignments. In my graduate courses, I then tutored my fellow graduate students in C++ basics. Python,

Python

Over the course of my graduate work, I specialized in numerical Python computation, visualization, and analysis using numpy, scipy, and matplotlib. My software became responsible for managing hundreds of thousands of simulations in parallel, while still being flexible enough to allow further models to easily be added to the simulations.
SQL,

SQL

I am a software engineer, I create complex interactions using SQL, ColdFusion, and Javascript.

Physics,

Physics

I have a BS and MS in Applied Physics. I have taught college physics for two years at Drexel University. During that time, I would meet with students individually explore troubling areas in more depth than can be covered in the classroom alone.
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus, Geometry, Prealgebra, Precalculus

Math

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I took a basic differential equations class as a freshmen in college, and passed with an A. Now as a physics graduate student, I work with differential equations on a frequent basis and have had to solve many complex equations. This has taught me many tricks and I've learned ways of explaining the techniques of this field in a simple manner.
