About K.T.Gus

I am a professional, mature, skilled, effective teacher/writer/marketer who generates results.

If you or your child is seeking to improve performance obtained in class, from standardized tests, at regular developmental school work, or from just simple "reading and writing for pleasure," then contact me to arrange a free consultation for 30 minutes to review my portfolio and generate an action plan for our next six weeks.

The improvement will be dramatic.

I worked in education for 12 years before retiring in 2012 with tenure from McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pa. My specializations include: World History and Cultures, American History; Journalism; Standardized Test Prep; Computer Technology & Student Literacy; Teaching Staff Training and Enrichment for Graduate Credit; High School Curriculum Development; Classical Novels and Contemporary Issues; Targeted Expository Writing; English Grammar & Composition; Essay Writing and Comprehensive Portfolio Development -- all targeting 6th thru 12th Grades.

My Undergraduate Degree is a BA in English Literature & Language from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa, (with a minor in Classical Philosophy). I also earned a Master's Degree in Educational Methodology (MSEd) from Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pa, and another degree in English Writing and Expositional Development (MA) from The University of Pennsylvania -- with a specialization in the John Collins writing model of portfolio development that maps student growth through a chronological portfolio of writings. Further, I have teaching certificates from West Chester University in Pa. and New York University in NYC -- the latter with a specialization in Magazine and Book Editing.

My most notable tutoring talent is the development of a concrete action program with quantified steps to mark student improvement -- and to produce a demonstrable record of intellect and discipline growth (with the accompanying increase in student pride and self-esteem). After my work, a student WILL emerge with a new confidence for school, a handful of tactics to handle any expository or comparison writing project, and even a clear understanding of specific eras and events in world or U.S. history or a foundation in economic thought, if so desired.

I look forward speaking with you to unearth specific needs, discuss payments, and flesh out a step-by-step protocol to help students achieve mastery (and for parents to achieve a good night's sleep).

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
