When the opportunity arises, I try to integrate reading and writing into the subject area being tutored. I believe this gives the student strategies to improve self-sufficiency, increase understanding of curriculum, and build academic confidence.

I have had the opportunity to work both in the public school and private and also as an educational volunteer and mentor. I look forward to helping you with your academic needs.

The following is my philosophy of teaching and learning:

Teaching is helping learners acquire knowledge. Helping them to understand the context in which it is acquired, how it was acquired it, and what we do with it afterwards. Teaching is more than just what happens in the classroom; it is the effective, humane management of complex human interaction.

As a teacher and tutor I strive to create a personal learning environment for each student that is motivating, supportive, and engaging. In addition, I want to make it challenging and inspiring. It is my responsibility to guide and nurture students and help them take ownership of their learning with pride and without hesitation.

I believe a hands on approach, whenever possible, enables the student to create a link between theory and experience allowing them to become more involved in the learning process as well as increased efficacy in personal accomplishments. Hands on learning takes additional work on the teacher’s part, but the engagement with the student can create an excellent teacher-student relationship. In addition, hands-on learning is an exceptional

Denise is a great tutor, will always be open at teaching and clarifying any topic, you could have trouble with, such as Math and English. Doesn't mind reviewing any question you may have and will send feedback with a reason in which you may have misunderstood or have picked the wrong answer. Always happy to see you in the next study session and she will go the extra mile, to make sure you are at the level required to be.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Denise was awesome, she reviewed the worksheet I sent her prior to our session. She was extremely helpful and patient in explaining and teaching me how to simplify algebraic expressions. She also sent me a detailed review sheet explaining the steps of all the problems we went over. I look forward to our upcoming sessions as I prepare for my final exam.
