Seton Hill University (Master's)
I have had a passion for teaching since I was a little girl. I have enjoyed being a middle school learning support language arts teacher for the last four years. My special education background has been very beneficial in today's teaching world, and I have learned to differentiate instruction to adapt to the needs of my students. This will be my same philosophy as a tutor because we all learn differently! I am looking forward to many more years of teaching. I graduated in 2009 from Seton Hill. While studying there, I obtained a BA in psychology and got certified to teach elementary K-6 and special education N-12. I later added middle school language arts to my certificate. This decision stemmed from my love for books and reading. Also, I am only weeks away from receiving my Master's in Inclusive Education.
When I am not teaching or planning fun filled lessons for my students, I am enjoying being a wife and mother. My husband and I have a smart and beautiful little six year old boy, and we both love working with him on kindergarten and first grade concepts.
I enjoy communicating with my students' Parents and am open to constructive criticism. As a tutor, I will be devoted to my students and can easily be contacted through email or by phone. I prefer to meet in public locations but am open to traveling to my students' homes if they are within the set miles. Please feel free to ask me any questions or to express any concerns. I am always willing to help and look forward to working with some fresh new minds. I have had a passion for teaching since I was a little girl. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been certified to teach elementary K-6 for four years. I completed my teaching certification at Seton Hill University. I also student taught in a 5th grade classroom where I got a lot of experience. I am just about to obtain my Master's in Inclusive Education, and these classes are centered around inclusive education at the elementary level. I am learning about the newest teaching methods for elementary students through my son, who is in kindergarten.
