Bio

As a student, writer, and editor, I've grown to appreciate the importance of effective writing and communication. Everyone approaches writing differently, but it's common for students to struggle with things like grammar, reaching word counts, formatting documents to APA or MLA, answering prompts, avoiding plagiarism, and citing sources. Academic writing doesn't have to be difficult, but it can take time, technique, and experience to master. With my experience writing, editing, and consulting on countless academic documents (term papers, master's theses, doctoral dissertations, etc.), I yearn to bridge the gap between academic writing standards and the experience needed to meet those standards.

I've tutored college writing for more than four years, and I've written and edited professionally for more than five years.

I earned a bachelor's in journalism and a second bachelor's in economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 2019. I earned a master's in law and public policy from California University of Pennsylvania (Cal U) in 2021.

Throughout my academic career, I worked as a journalist for a variety of news publications, and I copy-edited IUP's student newspaper for two years. As copy editor, I organized weekly workshops where I gave personalized, one-on-one lessons to each of our journalists to improve their writing and AP-style skills.

I continued teaching concepts of formatting, grammar, style, and syntax during my graduate assistantship as a writing consultant at Cal U's writing center. I tutored and consulted undergraduate, master's, and doctorate students on term papers, master's theses, and doctoral dissertations. During that time, I also freelance edited doctoral dissertations and master's theses.

Although I love tutoring writing topics like answering prompts, approaching literature reviews, conducting research, etc., my favorite subjects are grammar and syntax.
