Guten Tag meine Liebe Damen und Herren!(Good day my lovely Ladies and Gentlemen) My name is Phillip and I would like to warmly welcome you to my profile and share a bit about myself. Although I am new to the world of German tutoring, neither the German language nor teaching is new. I have been studying German for approximately 8 years now, and although I'm not without error in my German, I can speak with reasonable fluency. Additionally I am competent with reading and most grammatical constructs within the Language. I operate around a B1 Level as recognized on the International scale and will be taking my Deutsch als Fremdsprache (German as a foreign language) B1 certificate later this year. That being said I would feel more than comfortable bringing anyone who is new to German or is relatively new up to a German IV level of proficiency. I actually traveled to Germany for the first time earlier this year where I spent a month improving my language skills in Bremen at the Goethe Institut. As far as teaching is concerned I currently aid in teaching at a summer camp that is specialized in teaching kids programming skills and an introduction to video-game design. In this line of work I help kids to grasp core concepts of various subjects within short frames of time so I feel that given even a relatively short amount of time I could help in improving anyone's German. I also frequently interact with children who have ADD ADHD or are have an Autism Spectrum Disorder, thus I am very patient and sympathetic to Students who need extra attention. I want to tutor because I'm looking to share my passion and experience with this beautiful language to others.
As I mentioned in my Bio above I have a long history working with the Language and my ongoing education with the subject matter has kept my skills sharp making me feel more than equipped to teach introductory German up to what one would expect at the end of their high-school career. I have spent time in the country increasing my speaking competency and developing my accent in line with standard German. I think that while structured study is key to understanding parts of the language that equally, if not more important is lingual and cultural immersion, therefore media will be integral to my teaching methods.
I would encourage any Students looking to improve their confidence with the German Language contact me with their goals for moving forward. I can work with you to develop a tailored lesson plan to deal with specific weaknesses in any existing knowledge, or to build a solid foundations for newcomers. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
