About David

Bio

In my experience, teachers who understand that everyone is unique and possess different strengths and weaknesses are the most effective. I understand that a one size fits all philosophy never fits quite right, so I make a point of adapting to various learning styles and trying new methods of instruction. I also strive to explain things in clear, understandable terms that the student can relate to. I am patient and motivated to help people learn and succeed. I am comfortable tutoring children...

I am comfortable tutoring children to adults on a wide range of subjects including English, composition, communications, study skills, and computer and software competency.

I recently finished a one year contract at a college in Southern Virginia where I taught public speaking and ran the college radio station. Currently I teach online courses for a Western Pennsylvania community college in addition to tutoring. In the past I have worked as a substitute teacher in multiple school districts and have experience training and coaching in professional environments. I hold current State and Federal background checks.

I hold a BA and a MA in Anthropology and am in the dissertation phase of a PhD in Communications and Educational Technology.

Study Skills,

Study Skills

As both a student through three post-secondary degrees and as a teacher myself, I am well qualified to help students effective study skills. In fact, study skills is an aspect of what I teach in public speaking through an emphasis on the importance of research and preparation to succeed at speaking. This is an area that many people struggle with, but one might say that I am something of a professional given my amount of successful schooling.
