I believe in modeling a situation and having the student explain his or her step-by-step process to me. I feel if you can effectively communicate how to complete a task, then you are that much closer to mastering it. I use this approach in the classroom as well. I also take pride in simplifying mathematical concepts for students who may find some more difficult.
I have a Masters degree in Education-Leadership from St. Francis University. I have been a 7-12 math teacher since 2003. I'm currently full-time employed and in the process of earning my K-12 principal certification. I've been teaching and privately tutoring for over a decade.
I am passionate about helping others succeed. On the side of teaching, I have several years experience as a Basketball coach and a Varsity Baseball coach. Mathematics is the center of my skill set, but the teaching/learning process is my passion.
Please contact me if you need assistance. I can do 1-on-1 or group settings. My rates will vary per subject and/or group size. I think the online tutoring experience is the best! I enjoy helping people and look forward to hearing from you! I believe in modeling a situation and having the student explain his or her step-by-step process to me. Groups: rates vary depending on number of students and are negotiable. I define a small group as 2-4 students. Large groups are 5 or more students in a public or online setting.
Jeff was able to explain the math in a way that my son was able to comprehend. After one lesson I feel so much better and relieved that my son will benefit from his experience.
Jeff is an excellent tutor. He takes time to sit down and thoroughly explain each concept, giving you a deep understanding of all content. Jeff willingly sacrificed his weekend in order to help me study for a very important Monday exam. He takes time out of his own life to prepare practice questions and ensure that he can most efficiently help you.
We used Jeff for many tutoring sessions. He is a teacher and knows his stuff. Unfortunately, Jeff cancelled lessons at the last second many times. I would recommend him for his knowledge but I was disappointed in the number of times that he cancelled at the last second and many times for key sessions right before a test. I give him high marks for his teaching abilities but low marks for reliability.
I would like to apologize for being unable to attend a few sessions: once for coaching a high school baseball game that was reschedule due to rain, another due to a personal injury requiring medical attention, and another at a funeral/wake of a close friend. All but one session was able to be successfully rescheduled. These things in life do happen - leave no doubt I am dedicated to helping whoever wants it.
Jeff was a great help to both of my boys! Clearly knowledgable, but his patience and approach really helped the boys gain the understanding they need to finish the school year. Highly recommend Jeff to anyone seeking help for their kids.
The cool thing is that its all done by the computer and i don't have to the leave home. Plus Jeff is a cool tutor he makes sure that you understand the problems very well.
Jeff is great. Very patient and helped me understand asymptotes and continuity. He had worksheets and notes that were easy to comprehend. He answered all questions that I had and I feel much more confident in class now. Thank you!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Before joining WyzAnt, I held private study sessions for local baseball players who needed specific ACT results in order to be accepted into their universities and the NCAA clearinghouse. I have many materials, plus access to my employers ACT files, that I'm permitted to use for private tutoring.
The majority of my teaching career has focused around around Algebra 1, remediation for Algebra 1, and preparing junior high students for the Pennsylvania Keystone Algebra 1 exam. I have tons of resources and experiences that I am willing to share with you.

I've taught calculus since my time as a student teacher. I am very comfortable discussing concepts and have plenty of materials to assist your needs as a student.
I have privately tutored many students with the new Common Core elementary standards. Also, my school district is realigning curriculum based on the Common Core, so I have much exposure to the "new methods". I have a Masters degree in Education-Leadership from St. Francis University. I have been a 7-12 math teacher since 2003.
I taught high school geometry for 10 years (grades 9-10). I also took a master's level class in Geometry.
I have been teaching Pre-Algebra and related courses in a junior high school for 12+ years. I've taught the highest honors level and the lowest level learners, and will adjust my style to the learner. Thank you for the consideration!
I currently teach the SAT prep course for my employer and have access to the most up to date test-prep materials.
