About Michael

I am the teacher who will have the biggest impact on students. I will give the most signatures in the yearbook, I will greet the most students and faculty, and I will also be recalled on the most in every student’s future lives as they recall information learned through unique activities in my classroom. Before graduating from Penn State this year, I finished my student teaching practicum. As a student teacher, I used differentiated instruction to create unique, customized activities to help all of my students reach their full potential. I generated student centered activities with options for students that were equally challenging. I provided many opportunities for group work coupled with teacher guidance. I used alternative forms of assessments such as rubrics, projects, quizzes, and worksheets. Throughout my student teaching I attended weekly team meetings where I offered advice and suggestions with student problems. In addition to graduating from Penn State this year, I also had the opportunity to substitute teach for two months. It truly reinforced my love of teaching and the family environment a school provides. Substituting taught me to be a team player and fulfill roles wherever needed.

One major characteristic of my teaching style is creating a mutual respect in the classroom while maintaining effective classroom management. Accompanied by a clear set of classroom rules and procedures, the classroom will be a productive learning environment where students are actively engaged in conversation with classmates and the instructor. The most effective lessons I delivered were when I barely talked. Through a well-planned activity and instructor guidance, students will learn from one another. I am also a firm believer in doing what it takes to make a memorable impression. This often required bringing in props or dressing up.

I took General Math and General English courses at Penn State and am a former CCD teacher.

I had a Social Studies major, History minor and Geography minor.

I was a Collegiate Golfer at Penn State Hazleton, and competitive Golf Club team member at University Park.

My objective is to obtaining a tutoring position that utilizes my passion for teaching to create a positive experience for the students by implementing various teaching methods and coordinating with other teachers to work interdisciplinary units.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I was raised in a Catholic family. Attended church every Sunday, and went to Catholic School until 7th grade. I also taught Sunday School for two years.

Golf

I have been golfing for 4 years now. I had the second lowest scoring average at Penn State Hazleton. I made Penn State's competitive club team by shooting 4/64 in a qualifying tournament by shooting 74. I also played in a regional and club golf national championship in North Carolina for Penn State.
