Hello, my name is Kelly R. Last year I was a fourth grade teacher. I worked specifically with 23 below grade level students that came from very diverse backgrounds. I tutored these students before and after school three times a week and also ran the Active Kids club once a week. Before that, I was the reading Intervention specialist at Oak Park and worked with grades Kindergarten through fourth grade.
I graduated from West Chester University with high honors. I am certified to teach grades K-6 and middle school English grades 7-9. I have a reading minor and was a part of the Alpha Upsilon Alpha Reading Honors Society. I am currently enrolled at West Chester University working towards my Masters of Education in Reading.
I student taught in the North Penn School District at Inglewood Elementary school - grade 2. I have had the pleasure of working with grades 1, 2 and 4 during college field classes. I have experience coaching gymnastics, karate, and day camp to students ages 5-13.
I am an avid reader and love to learn. I love staying active and being creative. I currently enjoy doing circus aerial classes, Crossfit, and drawing. This summer I was awarded first place in the 5K Mud Run obstacle course race. Hands on learning and differentiating my instruction are my passions! I was a level 10 gymnast and continue to do yoga each day to keep my flexibility and strength.
I am a firm believer of positive reinforcement and developing long lasting positive relationship with each of my students. I am dependable, flexible, creative, patient and a team player.
I believe that learning should be hands on as much as possible. I also believe in making my lesson individualized to fit my students needs. I would love to share my love of learning with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am Pennsylvania certified to teach grade K-6
