King's College (Spanish and English)
University Of Alcala (Master's)
Hi. My name is Katie.
I have been living and working in Spain for the past 7 years. My native language is English and I am also fluent in Spanish. Learning Spanish was a struggle for me when I was a student here in the US. It wasn't until my time abroad that I truly understood what needed to be focused on in order to learn a foreign language. Now I want to help others learn. While in Spain I taught ESL to speakers of other languages. I also have helped proofread and translate documents/projects/etc.
I graduated college with BA degrees in both English writing and Spanish. I have my TESOL certification and I hold a Diploma of Mastery of Spanish as a Foreign Language (C2) given by the Instituto de Cervantes. I love learning about cultures and languages, traveling, reading, writing, baking... the list could go on!
I am always open to feedback about my lessons because it's the only way that I will be able to tailor the classes to each student! While I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy I can understand that life isn't always be predictable so I offer make up classes.
Since I do not have an office space I typically prefer to meet at a neutral location (i.e., a library, Panera Bread, Starbucks, etc.). Specifics can be discussed and decided for each individual student.
I have been teaching and tutoring children and adults in ESL for the past 8 years. I take pride in adapting each class to each of my students because not every person has the same learning style. Through my English writing background I can also help with proofreading and writing (for native and non-native speakers of English).
I will forever be a student of the Spanish language (you can never stop learning about Spanish speaking cultures or new words used in different regions)!! I know what it's like to struggle with learning a foreign language and it's my job to apply what I know to your specific situation.
Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns, to learn more about my classes, or me! I look forward to hearing from you so you can be on your way to improving your language skills! Hi. My name is Katie.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
