My love of teaching began 5 years ago when I started teaching in post-secondary education. I teach adult students who are looking to begin a new career. I teach in various subject matters like general study courses and in specific courses like clinical classes that apply to Medical Assistant students. I thrive on helping students succeed and want to provide them with the various tools and resources I can offer them to help them do the best in whatever class they are taking.
I am especially comfortable with tutoring in Anatomy and Physiology because I teach these classes on a regular basis. I enjoy teaching in career development because I have extensive work in helping students with the resume and job hunting during college and after college.
I hold myself to high standards and expect the students to give there all when I am working with them. I will adapt my tutoring methodology to match their learning style. I ask that a 24-hour cancellation notice is given and I do offer make up classes.
I prefer to meet at the East Shore Library in Harrisburg, but will travel to another location that is quiet and conducive to your tutoring needs.
Anatomy and Physiology are two things I have taught numerous times to medical assistant students, but I have worked in the medical field so I can relate many things I have learned in the field to the textbook material.
Given the fact I teach for a living, I am constantly proofreading papers for students and peers. I have taught communication classes where writing papers and speeches were a daily task. I have learned to become comfortable in front of people due to various techniques I have learned and want to share with others.
I have worked in post-secondary career schools for five years, so I am constantly reading resumes, helping students apply for jobs and practicing mock interviews with them to show them the do's and don'ts of interviewing. I have experience in developing solid resumes and portfolios.
I look forward to hearing from you and to begin helping you achieve success! My love of teaching began 5 years ago when I started teaching in post-secondary education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As an educator of 5 years, I have taught two courses constantly that deals with professional and career development. I have conducted mock interviews for students, assisted with writing resume and cover letters, and presented numerous professional development presentations on what skills are needed in the work force. I have taken professional development when I was in school for my AAS and BS.
