Bio

I'm Emily! I have a 4.0 undergraduate GPA, and have been a writer and lover of language arts for my whole life. The greatest teachers in my life taught me to communicate in every form of media. From reading and writing to music, I am a fan of communication arts. It is my goal to instill in my students this same passion and eagerness, and to help them form the foundation of their education. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn anything, and that my job is to help my students to understand the material and enjoy the process of learning.

In my college writing class, I received an A final grade and perfect scores on many of my assignments, which included papers, grammar exercises, spelling, and citations. I was a recognized writer in high school, and advanced to the National Competition with six speeches I wrote for my Speech and Debate League. I also won the Colorado State American Legion Oratorical Contest for which I wrote five speeches.

While I was in high school, I volunteered extensively in children's programs, as a teacher's assistant, an art instructor, a music teacher, and a babysitter. I really enjoy helping kids to grasp the basics, all while making it fun! As for spelling specifically, I was a Colorado State Tournament Competitor in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 7th grade, and my skills have only improved since then.

Studying is unique to the student, and must be both productive and effective. As a college student I carry a full-time course load, participate in my school orchestras, I am a member of three clubs, and I always try to make time for friends and family. I understand the difficulties of time management and the need to prioritize assignments. I also know how to break up large assignments into small and manageable tasks. All for the end result of making good grades!

I am an experienced violin teacher. I taught beginning violin for one year in between high school and college. I have been playing violin for 4 years, and I have been playing the viola for almost 10

Violin

I took viola lessons for 7 years, and just recently began violin training. I was taught using the Suzuki method, and recently had my own teaching studio for violin lessons. I also have had extensive experience playing in student quartets and orchestras, as well as my community orchestra. Whatever your music goals are, I want to help you achieve them!

Debate

Emily helped my daughter prepare debate arguments and practice the debate. She is excellent. She uses interesting games to make my daughter talk more slowly and clearly.

Excellent With Little Kids

Emily uses lots of fun exercises to teach basic violin techniques to my Kindergartner. My little one has so much fun. Lessons fly by. Emily also teaches my 11 year old viola. She is skilled and makes lessons engaging. She doesn’t just listen to the kids play songs from the Suzuki book, she uses games and metaphors to connect.
