I am currently a graduate student at LaSalle University pursuing my M.B.A. full-time. I love working with others to help them better understand concepts and develop study habits that result in sustained success. I went to Penn State and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Supply Chain and Information Systems from their business school. Upon graduation, I was a manager at Sam's Club for about 2 years until I decided to go back to school.
I believe that there is no one right or wrong style for each student and that everyone learns differently. I find it important to work with each individual and find which style or styles work, and develop a plan around that. I feel it is important to show a multitude of examples and different ways to look at problems to ensure students are learning the full concept and can translate it to any situation. I also work with students to develop great study habits that allows them to manage their time more efficiently and get more out of studying. With my experience, I like to incorporate real-life scenarios I have seen in the workforce as well as situations students will face in any higher education.
Finally, I believe in working with the students through problems and making it a partnership in learning. I never "do the work" for anyone and never move away from a subject or topic that is not fully understood. I am fully transparent when questions are asked and give honest answers from my experiences. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor Business, because I have graduated from Smeal College of Business at Penn State, where I learned all concepts of business at a top business school. I then took that knowledge and applied it at Sam's Club, where I was responsible for marketing, customer service, financials, accounting, human resources, etc. Currently, I am studying at LaSalle University working towards my M.B.A., where I am learning in depth about every subject in the business school.
