Over the past twenty years I have worked with college and high school students in assisting them find their path to a deeper understanding of mathematics, physics, scientific modeling and problem solving. I have also completed the course requirements as an education major and have studied education psychology, and such concepts as Bloom's taxonomy, which defines how one moves from a relative simple understanding of a subject, whereby they merely remember definitions, to a broader, deeper insight whereby they can apply what they have learned to new situations and problems. These are the skills that are needed to be successful in the professional world.
In order to be an effective tutor one needs to determine the root cause of why someone is having difficulty with a concept or subject and then correct that problem. It will be different for every person. If you have a problem in front of you which you are expected to solve but cannot I will help you determine why you are having so much difficulty. I will ask you questions about what you do know and what pieces of information are required. In short my goal is to improve your study and focus skills and make you an independent learner.
I have chosen a career which gives me great flexibility and works with my personal lifestyle. Many semesters I teach full time in science and engineering and also work as a research scientist. Let me know if you're struggling with an online and or live course and you just need a boost getting over the difficult spots.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
