I believe in student-centered teaching that is directed by the personal goals and aspirations of the learner. I design lessons and practice activities that are catered to the specific needs of each of my students and tap into practical applications seen in my students' own lives. As a language teacher, my focus is on communication and relevancy. As someone who spent over 10 years of my academic tenure learning a second language, I have developed a wide range of study and practice skills for language learning and other coursework to both prepare for tests and also master true acquisition of knowledge. As a former teacher working with over 150 students every semester, I have experience differentiating course material for all learning styles and special needs. I believe in meeting students where they are and making learning fun and relevant!
I lived and studied abroad in Mexico, and have traveled extensively for volunteer, personal, business and educational purposes to over 30 countries. One of my favorite aspects of teaching Spanish is the opportunity to build bridges and facilitate intercultural dialogue.
