Southern New Hampshire Univeristy (English - Writing)
Looking for help with English, Literature, Grammar, Writing, or simply need someone to proofread your paper? Your search is over. I have been homeschooling my three daughters from upper elementary through their high school years for the past 10 years, as well as, tutoring middle and high school students. Having finished my Bachelor’s Degree in English – Writing with a 4.0 GPA, you can be sure I know the difference between Dickens and Dickinson and an adjective and adverb. If you don’t, come spend a few weeks with me and you will, too.
I especially love to teach writing and watch student’s progress to bring their story to life on the page. I have experience working with students with dyslexia and ADHD. I try to use multiple modalities while teaching, incorporating visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic methods when possible. I am also familiar with Orton-Gillingham and Susan Barton methods of teaching reading, especially designed for dyslexic students. Having worked in Information Technology for 15+ years, I have used technology tools such as Dragon Naturally Speaking (speech to text software) and various screen readers, which can read material to students, to help students keep up with the studies.
I live in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania. My hobbies include writing, sewing, reading everything in front of me, and spending time with my girls. We especially like the outdoors and go “Jeeping” on the mountain trails.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have homeschooled two of my daughters with dyslexia. I worked with the Dyslexia Center which uses Orton-Gillingham and have completed some of the Susan Barton training which is also based on the Orton-Gillingham method. I have done extensive research on dyslexia and personally spoken with many dyslexic researchers and advocates such as MaryAnn Wolf of Tufts University.
I graduated from SNHU with a 4.0 GPA in English and Writing, which means I know my adjectives from my adverbs, but I can also break down all of that grammatical magic into some common-sense rules to get you through. I've home-schooled my girls and tutored several others, who probably like you, did not like English. But with some effort on your part, and guidance on mine, we can get you back on track in no time.
I graduated from SNHU with a 4.0 GPA in English and Writing. I've home-schooled my girls and tutored several others who struggled to understand proper subject-verb agreement, correct comma usage, etc. If you need help polishing your grammar skills, contact me and we can get started right away.
I've read and studied literature for years and graduated from SNHU with a BA Degree in English - Writing, which included numerous courses in literature. I am one of the few who can honestly say they love Shakespeare. He was truly a master at writing and included ghosts, murder plots, romantic drama, and even good old fashion comedy in most of his plays. Whether it's Dickens, Lord Byron or Mark Twain that are giving you problems, give me a call and we'll make sense of it together.
I'm that annoying person who finds everybody's mistakes in everything I read from billboards to newspaper articles to the latest novel I'm reading. If you need help polishing your paper, give me a call. I have years of experience working with homeschoolers and college students alike to bring out the best in their work.
I've been passionate about writing since I learned to put letters together to form words. I graduated from SNHU with a 4.0 GPA in English and Writing, and was selected as a finalist in the 2014 Central Pennsylvania Writing Contest. My oldest daughter, who is also dyslexic, graduated high school scoring Advanced in Writing on her final Pennsylvania State Standards Assessments. Just as I helped unlock her creativity and ability to write well, I can help you, too.
