In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In addition to teaching high school Spanish I have taught English as a Second Language for the past 30 years. I have taught children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings- public school, community college, local farms as well as the Perry County, PA prison. I have taught English to speakers of many different languages. It has been very rewarding to work with people from different countries and cultures.
