With over 18 years of public school teaching experience, I have had the privilege of helping numerous students achieve greater academic and personal success as they navigate through their high school years. Throughout my career I have taught inclusion science courses, including General Science, General Biology, Study Skills Seminar, and Structured Learning Experiences for our Workplace Readiness students as well as In-Class-Support Environmental Science, General and College Prep Biology and General Chemistry. Through the implementation off a wide range of instructional strategies, my lessons and activities are student centered and designed to meet individual learning preferences and needs. In addition to helping students succeed in the above academic areas, I can also provide instructional support with social skills, life skills, and employment preparedness skills. These critical skill sets not only enable students to make a successful transition into adulthood, but also increase self-reliance and independence. There are few things more rewarding than helping someone recognize and strive to meet his/her fullest potential!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's Degree in Special Education and have taught a wide variety of inclusion and support secondary level courses working with students who struggle with behavioral, learning and developmental disabilities. One of my greatest strengths is building strong rapports with my students and their parents in order to individualize instruction to meet each student's specific learning needs.
In addition to holding a special education teaching certificate, I also have a Master's degree in Special Education. I have taken several graduate level courses on ADHD to support individuals with attention difficulties.
Some of the courses/workshops I have taken include:
Graduate Courses (post graduate degree)):
Dealing with ADHD-Type Behaviors in the Classroom, Brain Based Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and The Kinesthetic Classroom Teaching and Learning Through Movement
Throughout my teaching career I have always, and continue to work with student who have attention difficulties. Utilizing a variety of instructional methods and incorporating "brain breaks" as well as permitting movement in my lesson/activities helps students develop effective strategies for coping with distractibility.
I currently hold a New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate as well as a Pennsylvania N-12 certification. Both of these certifications enable me to teach a wide range of student populations including those who have attention, behavioral, learning, and developmental disabilities. I have taught students who are classified under the above special needs categories in NJ public schools for over 18 years.
In addition to holding a special education teaching certificate, I also have a Master's degree in Special Education. I have taken both graduate courses on Autism as well as attended many professional workshops to support individuals on the spectrum.
I also run a Work Place Readiness program for students who have developmental disabilities and work closely with our school behaviorist to implement behavior plans designed to meet specific behavioral needs common with students on the autism spectrum.
