My name is Meredith, and I am 32 years old. I grew up on Long Island, but have since lived in several places. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Education at the University of Tennessee and have taught Special Education on the High School level for the past 8 years. Recently I have become very interested in fitness and nutrition. This passion led to my application to Graduate school in the field of Exercise Science. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program at East Stroudsburg University and love being back in school. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn and experience success. We each have unique talents and passions, it is just a matter of figuring out what they are. I strive to find ways to ensure that my students understand material, and will work diligently to help students in any way I can. Sometimes it takes experiencing failure in order to truly grow and mature, and learn how to persevere.
I have over four years experience in algebra. I understand test questions and break down concepts so that they are manageable and easier to understand.
I have over four years of teaching World and American History, and finding fun ways to remember key words/facts and dates. I provide strategies to write a well-organized paper, and strategies to answer multiple choice questions.
I have extensive training in working with student with disabilities. I finding unique and alternative ways to help students pay attention and remember important details. I implement programs and routines to help students stay organized.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a current teaching license in Maryland for Students with Disabilities, grades 5-9. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Special Education. I have taught numerous students with disabilities, including those with ADD/ADHD. I have been a part of teams creating and implementing IEPs for students with a diagnosis of ADHD and have completed paperwork required by doctors in order to make a diagnosis of ADHD.
