About Tina

Bio

I live in Easton Pennsylvania 18040 and either tutor at my home or online students throughout the country, therefore I do not travel. I am a permanently certified 7-12th grade math teacher for Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry and the PreCalculus sections that are found on the college entrance tests. I specialize in preparing students for the math portion of the PSAT, SAT, ACT and state standard tests since 2000. One on one tutoring is the most efficient way to fill in any skill gaps.

Wyzant online tutoring has many advantages. The interactive whiteboard with Wyzant enables you to rewatch the video of the session. Many students think they understand the concepts, but then after a weekend or a few days go by, the thought process behind the problem is forgotten. First we schedule a free 15 min online meeting ( or get the first 15 min of the first lesson free). Once scheduled, you will get a link to join the session. After the online session you get the opportunity to save the many whiteboards that we used to write out the problems as a pdf file. Another benefit is that you only pay for the time you need. If you only need a quick 20 min session, then that is all you pay for.

Please read my testimonies and ask me questions. Since I have some local non Wyzant students, my availability changes often, so I do not accept direct bookings or post my availability online as it changes by the hour some days.
Please schedule asap but check with me even last minute since I often do get cancellations.

I love to help students gain confidence and a solid foundation in math. I am very efficient so even if my hourly rate is not the lowest, I will save you time and money. I am fair as I will offer you more for your money and do not charge for time if I felt that enough progress had not been made in our session. If I have not earned 5 stars, please message me within 2 days and I will void the lesson so there is no charge.
Thank you very much for your consideration.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I enjoy helping students gain a solid foundation in algebra. You will get the most out of tutoring if you show me what you have tried so that I can see where the confusion is.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I enjoy helping students gain a solid foundation in Algebra. You will get the most out of tutoring if you show me what you have tried so that I can see where the confusion is. Also the only way to get strong in Algebra is if you ask me for more problems to try that are like the ones that you previously had trouble with.
Geometry,

Geometry

I am interested in helping students who are taking notes, trying their homework and care about learning. Advanced Geometry was the course in college that I really excelled in since I am a visual learner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoy the visual problems that involve algebra. Proofs are the other aspect of Geometry. They are also important, so I will help your student think logically so that they understand the order in which they need to order their proof statements.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have been teaching Pre-Algebra since 2000. Pre-Algebra is an important stepping stone to lay a solid foundation for the rest of your students mathematics. I know what is involved in Alg1, 2 and beyond so I teach Pre-Algebra with the future in mind so that they can make the future connections. Students need repetition so encourage your student to do as many different typed of problems for the same skill so that they can experience all the aspects of that skill. I would visit websites that have interactive games to reinforce skills. Upon our first contact I will give you the names of websites I recommend.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I love how excited parents and students are when their scores improve after tutoring. I taught a 9 week SAT math elective course in high school and have done much private tutoring with much success. The March 2016 New SAT is very different from previous tests. My advice is to only use the NEW official Collegeboard practice book with four tests. I believe one on one tutoring far exceeds the big expensive SAT classes. With your student's effort and my guidance, he or she will improve their score as well as help their math foundation for current and future math classes.

I love how excited parents & students are when their scores improve after tutoring. This math test is a skill driven test whereas the SAT test is more problem solving. The ACT includes a science section. My advise is to only use the official ACT practice book. The other practice books cannot plagiarize the test and do not read like the test. Also, to go to the official ACT website listed as actstudent asap and have your student go to the test prep section and try and complete the 5 modules for the math section. Contact me and I can give you any other information that I have gathered on this new test. I believe one on one tutoring far exceeds the big expensive ACT classes. Knowledgeable and patient

Tina was very good explaining topics in a way I could understand them (functions, interval notation, and graphing). She was nice and patient when I asked questions.

Kyra, 1 lesson with Tina

Different point of view

She showed me that I need to take more time with reading each problem, and that drawing it all out can really help.

Yudelka, 2 lessons with Tina

Very helpful

Tina helped my daughter with SAT Math. She helped her understand the problems that my daughter had trouble with. She was also patient while explaining and repeats if required.

Excellent Tutor

I am so glad to have Tina as my tutor. She has helped me prepare for my math lessons with my middle school students. She has been very helpful in explaining algebraic concepts in a way that I can understand so that I can explain them better to my students. I highly recommend her to anyone needing help in math.

Super Patient!

My daughter has taken to Tina's style. Tina does not make her feel "stupid", and does not lose patience if she has to repeat a concept several times. My daughter has ADHD and has challenges learning concepts but Tina has really connected with her and helped!

Excellent algebra 2 tutor

Tina was available last minute to help prepare my 10th grade daughter for a quiz in Algebra 2. Based on our first session, Tina was prompt, knowledgeable and very patient. My daughter felt more confident about the subject material after having a session with Tina. Thanks for the great tutoring.

Sue, 18 lessons with Tina
