Math stressing your student? I am a great fit for a student who struggles with math, and is willing to communicate and practice. I provide tutoring online or at my home office. I may not be the cheapest hourly rate, but you will find that you will get a lot for your money and the second hour used in the same week is half off, so you are then realizing a much lower rate. There are many advantages of online tutoring. Please ask me about them during your free 15 min online meet and greet or get 15 min off of your first tutoring session. We will make a plan for success. Online tutoring sessions can be as short as 15 mins on days when your student only needs homework help.
I am a PA certified 7-12th math teacher. After 10 yrs of teaching high school, I left the classroom to homeschool. I have taught several 9 week SAT math prep classes at local high schools and afterschool programs. I enjoy tutoring: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry and specialize in preparing students for the math portion of state exams, PSAT, SAT, and ACT. ( sorry I do not tutor Calculus, Physics or Chemistry)
I am dedicated to helping your student gain a solid foundation in math. Today's hourly rate will never increase for your entire family regardless of how many years go by. I look over and check homework at no charge. If I do not feel that we got enough accomplished in an hour, I will charge less time. If I do not earn a 5 out of 5 stars and you let me know within 2 days, I will void the lesson so there is no charge.
I do not allow students to "instant book" because my availability changes constantly. Please tell me what day and time (with time zone) that you want and I will do my best to accommodate. One on one tutoring is the most efficient way to fill in any skill gaps. Once your lesson is scheduled, you will get an email to join the online session with Tina S.
Thank you for your consideration.

Though I am a certified secondary education teacher (7-12th) I have experience in teaching 2nd-6th grade mathematics. In addition to tutoring students in this age group, I have home-schooled my daughters in 3rd-8th grade mathematics so I am familiar with the material. Since I am aware of what skills will be used in the harder maths I can help your child prepare a strong foundation for the courses that are coming up in the future.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I enjoy helping students gain a solid foundation in algebra. You will get the most out of tutoring if you show me what you have tried so that I can see where the confusion is.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I enjoy helping students gain a solid foundation in Algebra. You will get the most out of tutoring if you show me what you have tried so that I can see where the confusion is. Also the only way to get strong in Algebra is if you ask me for more problems to try that are like the ones that you previously had trouble with.
Geometry,

Geometry

I am interested in helping students who are taking notes, trying their homework and care about learning. Advanced Geometry was the course in college that I really excelled in since I am a visual learner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoy the visual problems that involve algebra. Proofs are the other aspect of Geometry. They are also important, so I will help your student think logically so that they understand the order in which they need to order their proof statements.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have been teaching Pre-Algebra since 2000. Pre-Algebra is an important stepping stone to lay a solid foundation for the rest of your students mathematics. I know what is involved in Alg1, 2 and beyond so I teach Pre-Algebra with the future in mind so that they can make the future connections. Students need repetition so encourage your student to do as many different typed of problems for the same skill so that they can experience all the aspects of that skill. I would visit websites that have interactive games to reinforce skills. Upon our first contact I will give you the names of websites I recommend.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I love how excited parents and students are when their scores improve after tutoring. I taught a 9 week SAT math elective course in high school and have done much private tutoring with much success. The March 2016 New SAT is very different from previous tests. My advice is to only use the NEW official Collegeboard practice book with four tests. I believe one on one tutoring far exceeds the big expensive SAT classes. With your student's effort and my guidance, he or she will improve their score as well as help their math foundation for current and future math classes.

ACT Math,

ACT Math

I love how excited parents & students are when their scores improve after tutoring. This math test is a skill driven test whereas the SAT test is more problem solving. The ACT includes a science section. My advise is to only use the official ACT practice book. The other practice books cannot plagiarize the test and do not read like the test. Also, to go to the official ACT website listed as actstudent asap and have your student go to the test prep section and try and complete the 5 modules for the math section. Contact me and I can give you any other information that I have gathered on this new test. I believe one on one tutoring far exceeds the big expensive ACT classes. With your student's effort and my guidance, he or she will improve their score as well as help their math foundation for current and future math classes.

Please note that I only am able to help with the Math portion of the ASVAB. My advice is to do as many math practice questions as you can before we meet. That way, I can see clearly from our first meeting how much work we need to do. Kahn academy has some good free tutorials that will explain some of the math skills. Also I like the website purple math to help explain some skills. I am honored to help you on your journey to serve our country.

Responsive to students’ needs

Tina has been great to work with! My daughter and I appreciate her flexibility. My daughter especially likes that Tina is allowing her to set the pace for exactly what she needs to prepare for the SATs. Tina responds to what my daughter specifically needs help with.

Amazing!!!

I needed a tutor for my son as he had 4 days of school left of his 8th grade year. He had a test the following day at 1:00 that accounted for 15% of his final grade. I contacted a few tutors and Tina immediately responded and once confirmed was available for a 2 hour session within 4 minutes. I was amazed and the amount of information that he actually learned was amazing. Absolutely recommend Tina!!

Very knowledgeable and patient

Tina is an awesome tutor. She’s helping our daughter in honors algebra 2. She taught her how to find an inverse of a function. How to then graph it. Also, how to take a circle equation and exponential equation with a, h, & k and graph those varying equations. Concepts our daughter was struggling to get a clear understanding in class. The real cool thing is that she provides free homework help. We highly recommend Tina to anyone looking for an algebra tutor
