Do you feel lost, as a student, or professional musician, when it comes to music theory/harmony? Would you like to understand how music is structured, how to sight read music so that you don't have to learn by rote? Have you ever been frustrated by having an untrained ear? Well: I can help!
I have been reading music since the age of four (before reading words) and learning on the accordion. (The left hand, the buttons, is based on musical keys and harmonies).
So, even before I knew what I could do I found myself incredibly advanced and could translate that knowledge to the saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano. At 17 I became a professional singer and found that my understanding of theory and ear-training enabled me to sight read music perfectly on first view. My understand of how music was structured, which is so mathematical, allowed me write music down as I was hearing it. Am I bragging? Hmm, maybe: but I can teach it to you too IF YOU WANT TO LEARN. Having problems in college theory? Embarrassed singing in your church choir or: would simply like to sing better? I have had a 50 year career as a singer, including the Metropolitan Opera, Europe and regional musical theatre throughout the US. I'd love the help you out and put a smile on your face! I have been teaching and tutoring for 20 years with great success.
I work from my home in the Poconos but will also travel to my student when necessary. I try very hard to make the lesson enjoyable welcome feedback from student or parent.
Thank you for considering me and please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. Do you feel lost, as a student, or professional musician, when it comes to music theory/harmony? In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a professional singer and instrumentalist for over 50 years, proficient in all sorts of instrumental and vocal sightseeing: opera, musical theater, sacred and instrumental. I began my musical career at the age of 4 on the accordion, learning both bass and treble clef. I have been very helpful in teaching young and old how to increase their sight singing skills.
I have 50 years of singing experience in the United States and Europe. I have sung throughout the U.S. and four years in Germany. Thus far, I have been very successful in helping students create a successful singing technique for whatever reason they wish to become a better singer.
