About Stacy

Hi, my name is Stacy. I am a very energetic, out of the box style teacher, and just want to teach students in their unique ways. I use a multi-sensory approach to my teaching, I will hands on learning and modifications if needed when learning needs to be adapted. I love to laugh and enjoy teaching with flexibility and consistency. I have a Master Degree in Education and I am certified Special Education Teacher for the past twenty years. I taught children of all ages with varying learning differences. I have been tutoring for the past year in Language arts for a 6th grader. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am a Special Education Teacher. I am also diagnosed with ADHD since the age of nine. I relate and engage with students with special learning styles by using a multisensory approach.. learning by using the whole body. As a special education teacher, I modify the activity/lesson according to the individual learning style and interest of the student. Using positive behavior strategies and visual cues help students be consistent with attention and using an ADHD friendly approach to teaching. Using teaching tools is best for whichever one helps students accomplish the tasks assisted. My list of strategies is not a to do list, its my tool box of what works for each individual student.

Aspergers

I am a special education teacher with 10 years experience teaching and engaging children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am trained in various communication systems and approaches such as using sign language, iPad, pec system and verbal behavior. I have two children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have a diverse background and training in sensory and play therapy to help students to become functional members of society. My true passion is working with students with ASD because each one is unique. I am do behavior support for my county and consulting work for families with children with varying disabilities.

Autism

I am a certified special-education teacher with over 18 years plus experience working with children of all ages with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have two children of my own with autism and I have extensive background knowledge and experience that I could offer an authentic approach to learning by using sensory integration and a hands-on style. I taught a notice of support classroom for four years with children ages 12 to 18 and I also supported and after school program for career exploration for children with special needs at the college level Afterschool program. I believe that each child deserves to learn by their unique learning style everyone learns differently and I'm a therapeutic creative teacher , One who looks for ways to embrace and cultivate and collaborate with others to make students learning successful. I worked in autism support classroom setting for fours. I am a behavior support special instructor my caseload mostly consists of students with ASD.
For 5 years I've attended the Penn State Conference on autism, autism is my primary focus for special education. I want to certified to work with students with autism.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified special Education teacher and taught regular education for the 6th grade. I also have my Master Degree in Elementary Education. I can adapt and modify subjects to help students learn. I am currently tutoring a 6th grade student in reading and math. He is doing quite well with understand math concepts when broken in to sections. We work on reading strategies by using multi-sensory approach with hands on activities and reading material of high interest.

Handwriting

I am a Special Education teacher with extensive background in fine motor skills activities and modifications. I have experience using Handwriting Without Tears and Slant boards. My son has weakness; we use different adaptations to strengthen his hand muscles. Being a special education teacher, I use a lot of unique, out-of-the-box-style teaching skills that allow me to engage students' interest to love to learn.

Special Needs

I am a Special Education Teacher. I am an out-of-the-box type teacher. I am a certified teacher for ages 0- 21. I have taught and worked with children with varying disabilities. I have three children of my own with special needs. Each one of my children learns differently, so I help them differently. Each student learns uniquely and masters skills at their own pace. I have been teaching Special Education for 20 years.

Study Skills

I am a special education teacher. I have tons of experience with using graphic organizers for learning different subject matter and especially using a multisensory approach to learning new skills and mastering learned skills. For example, using chunking method and big block space for math problems. Using specific memorization skills to colored folders to distinguish subject matters. To learning study skills is based upon student's learning styles.
