I'm Amanda! I graduated with all-college honors and summa cum laude in 2016 with Bachelor's degrees in mathematics and biology and a minor in writing. I started working on my PhD in computational biology the following fall. My research interests include evolutionary genomics and phylogenomics, but I have also taken graduate-level courses in computational structural biology, cell and systems modelling, and machine learning. Thanks to my diverse educational background, I have expertise in a wide range of topics.

I first started tutoring in high school, and throughout college and graduate school, I have tutored several high school- and college-level students in math and science. I have successfully assisted students with homework assignments and test prep, as well as prepared lessons to teach new material.

During both my undergraduate and graduate education, I completed many mathematics courses ranging from calculus to real analysis to applied mathematics. Outside of my formal education, I spent a year as a home school high school math tutor while also also tutoring several other students from a range of skill levels. My mentality for teaching mathematics is to build skills from the ground up. Learning math is stacking building blocks of knowledge - if you miss a block, it becomes difficult to add more. I aim to fill in the missing blocks so students not only learn the material, but also maintain a solid basis of understanding to prepare them for future learning.

If you would like to schedule a lesson, please contact me! I'm ready to help you or your children find academic success. I also offer a free consultation meeting prior to starting lessons so we can discuss your personal goals. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to get in touch.

Amanda is Great

I just had my first lesson and Amanda is great. She quickly understood what I was trying to accomplish and took me there step by step. I had some basic Qs and she answered them all efficiently and without a lot of jargon which I would not have followed. I will definitely work with Amanda again in the future.
