Grove City College (Grove City, PA)
I can't wait to help your student! I have had lots of experience working with kids of all ages and backgrounds. I grew up with 7 siblings and was blessed to excel in school, music, and athletics. In summers off during college, I worked at a camp and helped kids to be their best. During spring breaks, I worked with kids as well, doing after-school programs, VBS, and working at over-seas orphanages and schools. My first teaching experience was an eye-opening summer in Ghana, teaching middle-school science. I completed 4 years of teaching at a school for children with ADD/ADHD, as well as behavior and other socioeconomic struggles. I have also taught in a private school setting, where I taught many ages and subject areas. A lot of my kids needed extra support, and I enjoyed helping them succeed in both their academics and personal lives. I believe the best way to help a student is to show them that I believe in them and that they have what it takes to succeed. I would love the chance to help your child do their absolute best as well!

We highly recommend Mrs. Ruth as a tutor. Our sons from 8 and 10 years old respectively second and fourth grade had the pleasure to have Mrs. Ruth as their home school tutor for over 4 month working 5 hours a day with her. Our sons were both at least 1 grade behind with the English language and the process they made with Mrs. Ruth was amazing. She also tutored them in math where we also saw unbelievable results within the 4 months. Both our sons are back in school now but still talk and miss Mrs. Ruth as they loved her as a teacher and were happy every day to go to school with her. Mrs. Ruth was always friendly, punctual, great initiative and with a very positive attitude. We recommend Mrs. Ruth to you without any reservation.
Ruth is such a wonderful tutor, I would definitely recommend her to all of my friends! I am homeschooling my son with the 4th grade K12 online curriculum. I ran into difficulty with science and started to get behind in that subject. That's where Ruth comes in! She is extremely knowledgeable in science and made learning fun for my son. She has a flexible schedule so it was easy fitting her in with ours. Very easy to contact by either calling or texting. She is also patient, my son has adhd and can become distracted easily, she was always positive and kind to him. I can't say enough nice things about her and she really did a wonderful job!!
Thank you Ruth!
First day, my daughter said that she did not now anything. 2nd day. Did not show up. She said that she over booked herself. 3rd day, did not show up. She said she got lost. 4th day, did not show up. She said that I lived too far away.
I had to find another tutor.
I'm sorry we couldn't work it out. I hope you found someone that can help you!
Ruth has been working with my step daughter who is having problems in many different areas. My stepdaughter loves her and enjoys her time she spends learning which is a plus. She has been helping with all subjects for my stepdaughter and really helping to increase her reading proficiency. I would absolutely recommend her as a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked for Summit Academy in Warren, OH for four years. It is a Community Charter School specifically geared towards students with ADD/ADHD. I earned an extensive amount of knowledge concerning education and care for students with these struggles during my time at Summit, and though I am still learning, have gained a lot of skills in education. I worked with students ranging from grades 4-10 at this school.
I learned many techniques to help ADD/ADHD students and have resources to use for successful lessons as well.
I have studied the Bible since I was a young child, growing up in a pastor's family and also going on to a Christian college as well. But I learned the most about Christianity through my own mistakes and trials as a young adult. I would love to meet with you and discuss the Bible, grow together as we read, or provide your child with Bible lessons and discipleship as well.
I grew up in a large family, on a farm and learned a lot about preserving and preparing food as well as healthy baking. I have had health concerns in the past, and have learned how to adjust my diet for some of these needs. I would be able to help individuals who need to prepare restricted diets. I also truly enjoy cooking and having a healthy lifestyle and would enjoy helping others find enjoyment in developing healthy cooking patterns, even in the midst of a busy schedule.
I have worked with elementary children for several years. While living in PA, I worked as a teacher's aide at an OH Community Charter school, teaching grades 4-10. I have also worked at children's after-school programs, VBS programs, orphanages, and have taught overseas on mission trips.
I believe it is important to instill a love of learning into children and not wait until they have already formed bad habits. I have maintained clear background records with the state of Ohio for the past several years and passed the background check with WyzAnt as well.
Thanks for your consideration.
I have loved English since junior high school--my dad always teases me about how serious I was about my homework for diagramming sentences! And while I won't focus on that so much, I do hope to encourage success for your student with the beautiful and complex English language, including grammar, writing complex and unique sentences, increasing your vocabulary, and various writing exercises. Please let me know how I can help!
I received my RYT-200 in June of 2014 and would like to be reconsidered for tutoring in this area. I teach gentle yoga classes, stretching and general health and fitness to youth and adults. I also blog regularly on these topics.
Recently, I had the chance to help a student who was not a very good reader become a great reader for his age! This is a very exciting process for both student and teacher. If your student does not currently love reading, let me be the one to encourage this in him or her. There are so many different books out there--I'm sure we can find something that will bring reading to life for your child! Don't hesitate to contact me.
