I am an elementary school teacher and have been working with students in the classroom between the ages four and twelve. The subject areas I teach regularly include Math, English Language Arts / Reading, Social Studies, and Science. I ensure that I implement material that promotes cross curriculum learning and teaching.
I have experience working in urban public schools, and suburban public and private schools working with students of various ages and backgrounds. I am passionate about my students and I put in a great deal of effort to ensure their success.I design and implement rigorous lessons that encourage higher order thinking skills, and differentiation in instruction and learning. I implement a variety of techniques to accommodate students’ learning styles such as direct instruction, flexible groups, class discussions, and the use of instructional technology. I implement scaffolding instruction to build success and provide opportunities for children to explore, create, and answer thoughtful questions. I am continuously creating and modifying engaging lessons that give students hands-on opportunities to construct new learning.
I work with students every day in Math as a teacher. I have worked with ages four to twelve in Math for the past couple years. My job as a teacher is to ensure that my students are learning and their math skills are developing.
I teach English every day to students. I have also worked with ESL students and have incorporated modifications in lessons so ESL students are receiving the same instruction but with prompts as needed.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
