In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold an M.A. degree in Political Science and I have many years of experience working in all levels of government from local to state, national to international. Before recently moving back to the United States, I served abroad as a professional Political Science and Diplomacy instructor for diplomat candidates in the U.S. State Department. I have been teaching Poli-Sci for many years and thoroughly enjoy every opportunity to help my students achieve their individual goals!
I worked as a speech writer and public relations specialist in the United States Senate, as well as a Public Diplomacy instructor with the Department of State. While working in the Senate, I once delivered a successful impromptu speech to a gathering of over 2000 medical nurses who had arrived at Capital Hill suddenly and unannounced. Public Speaking, therefore, continues to be an important cornerstone of my professional history and is a talent that I am proud to pass on to my students.
