Rutgers University (Comp Sci, Elem Ed)
I have been teaching children and adults computer skills for 13 years. I'm certified to teach k-12 computer, elementary ed, and early childhood ed. I worked in a private school for 11 years, and am currently teaching STEM enrichment programs at various schools in the region.
I became passionate about tutoring when I started working in the academic support program in the private school, eventually becoming director of the program. I tutored elementary math through algebra there for 7 years. I began to also tutor math to middle and high school students in my church and neighborhood. I have experience working with both those who struggle and those who are gifted. I can help students see how math is all around them, even in the everyday things they enjoy.
I was trained to teach Wilson reading intervention tutoring, and have taken 2 non-reading middle students through level 5 reading. Using Wilson reading intervention is the best program out there for helping children struggling with decoding!
I love to share my love of math and technology with others. And I particularly love journeying with a student from struggling to success - in any subject! For me there is no greater joy! I have been given a gift for teaching, and would love to share that with you/your child. Allow them to uncover all that they can be, and experience success in school! My daughter really enjoys meeting with Robin to review her math work. Robin is very patient...understands different learning and processing styles. She is very encouraging in her approach. They spend time, not only talking about math but about strategies in communicating with her teacher, test taking, and alternative approaches to get to the same answer. I feel like with won the tutoring lottery with finding Robin. She is a great match for us.
She helped me understand all the things in algebra that were puzzling to me. She was very patient when teaching and explains things very well. Looking forward to my next lesson.
Robin is a very nice and pleasant lady. She makes sure that my daughter gets the Math problems before she moves on. My daughter gets really excited when is time for her to come.
I was having difficulty sorting data in Excel. The data base that I was using had different size cells and could not be manipulated easily. After asking countless numbers of friends and colleagues how to complete this task I was about to give up on the project! That is when I found Robin at Wyzant. She showed me how to complete the Excel task in minutes which use to take me several hours! WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT!
Robin is a very knowledgeable and patient tutor. She understands the pain points and anxiety young students experience when struggling with math. Robin has a pleasant coaching style and applies tools that she uses when tutoring my son. I recommend Robin as a dedicated professional.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I tutor Wilson reading intervention which is a phonics based multisensory approach to reading. I took the official Wilson classes and was then mentored by a certified Wilson trainer for a year as we provided reading intervention tutoring to a middle school student who had a 1st grade reading level. I have since completed a second year of tutoring this student, bringing him up to a 5th grade level. I have also tutored other elementary students in the program over the past 2 years.
