West Chester University (Physics)
My name is Nick and I am currently studying physics with a minor in mathematics. I have a strong understanding of many mathematical subjects including: statistics, calculus, geometry, and algebra. I have tutored many students at West Chester University (the college I am currently attending), as well as students who are in high school. I understand that some subjects may be hard to fully grasp and understand, so I never get frustrated with the my students. I also understand that different teaching methods help students differently. I have found that when I applied my methods of learning to those I have tutored, it has helped them immensely. When teaching abstract mathematical subjects, I try to remove the abstraction as much as possible and put the problem into concrete and conceivable conditions.
I also feel very strongly about the subjects I study and want those around me to feel the same. For this, I will work hard to convey information effectively to the student so that the student can fully understand their subject. Nick has tutored my boys for three sessions and each time he has connected well with them and helped them to better understand Algebra 1 and 2. He arrived at the scheduled time. His tutoring is easy to understand, according to the kids, while being patient and comprehensive. We plan on having Nick back through out the school year.
Nick is very patient, and works hard to make sure you understand the material. He's very clear with his availability to avoid confusion and is quick to reply once you try to contact him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
