About Efpraxia

I studied classics at the University of Athens, Greece, and received education on teaching methods and students' psychology. I hold a Master's Degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a PhD degree in Social Anthropology from St. Andrews University in Scotland. For my graduate research projects, I focused on Greek culture, speaking and social relations.

I tutored junior high school and high school students in Greece for eight years. I taught on ancient Greek, Latin, History and Modern Greek literature and essay writing.

I worked with students on an individual basis. My tutoring method, as developed through the early stages of my work in Greece, is based on the following principles: Learning the student's attitude to the material is key to my contribution to their success. I thus first help students realize their own potential, express their fears and anxieties, and state their favorite concepts or theories. We then review the material, master it and prove this master during examinations. I encourage students and use humor to push them through difficult concepts. I invent ways through which they memorize things and store them well in their memory. I also ask a lot of questions so as to get them to think and respond to the taught material. Most important of all, I draw their attention to detail...

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Greek is good grief...lol

Effie is great! I work 40 hrs a wk, am a second year seminarian talking 9hrs and hv limited personal time. As such, I was in need of a tutor that could work with my busy schedule, by correcting my Greek syntax assignments and mechanical layouts. Having the ability to send het these documents and have them returned with corrections and suggestions are of tremendous help to me!
