Bio

During most of the 1980's I tutored English as a second language to Spanish speaking people in Venezuela. During this time, I also taught English in a private pre-school, high school, and language institution.

When I returned to the United States, I taught Spanish in a private school to students in grades K-8 for two years. Since the mid 1990s, I have tutored students in Spanish, both at high school and college levels, and in more recent years, I have also tutored adult learners of all ages...

When I returned to the United States, I taught Spanish in a private school to students in grades K-8 for two years. Since the mid 1990s, I have tutored students in Spanish, both at high school and college levels, and in more recent years, I have also tutored adult learners of all ages and elementary school-aged children.

For most of my college career, I was a double major in English and Communications. My degree is in Communication Studies with a minor in Writing.

My teaching/tutoring style varies according to what works best for each individual or group.

In recent years, I coordinated and led writing programs for libraries near Pittsburgh, and I continue to lead writing groups, both in-person and online. I also develop and host conferences, retreats, open-mic programs, and other writing events. My writing has won awards in various genres including children’s stories, poetry, fantasy, fiction, and creative nonfiction. My work has been published in literary magazines, local newspapers, and an anthology. Several of my plays and monologues have been produced. I am currently working on several projects, including a trilogy and another novel.
