I'm a recent graduate of the College of Wooster--a liberal arts college in Northeast Ohio--with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. I graduate Magna Cum Laude and with departmental honors in Spanish. While in college, I worked for many semesters in the Department of Spanish, as a research assistant, teaching assistant, and tutor. I also worked in the office of admissions as a tour guide for three years and as an intern. Additionally, I took a practicum for five semesters wherein I provided speech-language therapy to clients aged 5-8. Suffice it to say that much of my time in college was spent working with students in one capacity or another. I've always had an interest in teaching and tutoring and have personally found that I thrive when working one on one with someone. There's something about establishing a connection with a student and learning how best to help them that makes tutoring even more valuable for me. There's nothing better than working with a student and seeing them succeed!
As a tutor, I have worked mostly with students in introductory and intermediate college courses. With these students, I focused on learning aspects of grammar like the proper use of the subjunctive and the use of various tenses. I also helped them with reading and listening comprehension. I was also a teaching assistant for a Spanish phonetics course. Much of my work in this course had to do with helping students learn proper pronunciation. However I also helped them study for exams and I provided editing for their essays. Each student I have worked with has had a different background with Spanish. Some are lifelong students, and some have only just started learning Spanish. Because of this, I learned how to adapt my style to my students' backgrounds and needs.
I'm hoping to help as many students as possible! I'm quick to respond to any questions, comments, or concerns. Please feel free to contact me for any further information or to schedule a lesson!
