I have a real love of physics and problem solving that is contagious to the adults and students with whom I interact or instruct. My math and science teacher colleagues have regularly told me that they wish they could take my class. My education and engineering /entrepreneurship experience allows me to make multiple connections and use multiple methods to teach each piece of science eligible content. I have experience with inquiry-based methods of pedagogy as well as with the Agile Mind methodology. I have also taken relevant coursework in Science Literacy as well as AP Physics test prep. I have had distinguished success teaching multiple levels of physics to 9th, 10th; 11th and 12th graders. I have been a classroom teacher, teaching various physics classes, for the past 7 years.
As it was at M.I.T., I believe problem solving is the basis of physics study. My approach is to find physics problems which are exactly appropriate for each student, so that they can work toward a solution to 10-minute problems, 30-minute problems, overnight problems, one-week problems and even longer. I am currently working on a logic problem that I began in April. My diverse experience allows me to create metaphors and examples to facilitate difficult content understanding. Laboratory investigations and thought experiments also help solidify content mastery. I am a runner, cyclist, rock climber and coach of all three. I founded a climbing gym, and have a patent for a method of adaptive climbing using a customized pulley system. I am 20 years married with an 18 year old daughter (math major at PSU) and an 8-year old son (Lego major).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree from M.I.T. in Mechanical Engineering. I have worked as a mechanical engineer and manufacturing engineer in the following industries: Acoustics, Dental, Biophotonics. I am also an inventor and hold several patents in the dental and climbing industry. I am a hands-on, experiencial leaning teacher and tutor. My academic focus was dynamics and controls.
I have coached several track and cross country teams over the past 8 years. In the Catholic School System of Baltimore, I co-coached the women's teams to the cross country championship. More recently, I co-coached several Milton Hershey School teams to both district championship and state finalist results. I am a running coach with lots of personal experience with endurance athletics.
