Clarion University of Pennsylvania (Early Childhood Ed.)
I was very lucky to have many elementary teachers that helped me develop a lifelong love of learning! My hopes in being a tutor, is to help other children and students to have the same passion and curiosity that I do! I graduated from Clarion University in May of 2014, with Summa Cum Laude honors. I am a certified, licensed teacher to teach grades PreK-4. I currently work at a Child Care Center and care for infants and toddlers.
It is so important for children to receive all of the education and assistance they can during their early years, in order to build a foundation for later schooling. For some general education teachers in a classroom, it can be difficult to give struggling students the extra support they require; and that is why I want to help!
*I am also very capable of assisting older students in areas of math and reading.
Being a tutor for your child, I plan to do an informal assessment on your child's abilities in order to find out where their strengths are, as well as where they could use extra support. I will get to know your child so that I can provide him or her with exciting, interesting, and thought-provoking new ways to learn.
I offer a free consultation meeting with the parent and child, so that we can get to know one another a little bit. I am normally not available on weekday mornings, but other than that, I can be very flexible with tutoring times. You know your child best, and I want to tutor in a place that is comfortable for them.
If you are interested, please contact me! I will be happy to talk with you a bit before we make any final plans!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I know handwriting is very important. I work with older toddlers to practice tracing letters in manipulative materials such as play-doh, or paint in a bag. I assisted preschool students with their handwriting skills, and kept a handwriting portfolio for each student. I taught printing lessons while I student taught in 1st grade.
I exceeded the passing score in this area on my Praxis test. I have always understood this area of reading. I attended Daily 5 meetings with my co-operating teacher and learned many strategies to reach all learning in all areas of reading.
I volunteered as a peer tutor for students at Clarion University who struggled to pass the Praxis/PECT exam. I communicated with the student to figure out a time that worked best for both of us. We met in the library on campus as a central location for tutoring.
I played softball for 4 years. Before I was on the team, my father was a coach, so I always helped him keep score. Being one of the other players, I helped to keep the team morale up, as well as served as a co-coach to my dad.
