Hi, I am Kimberly and I currently have my Level II teaching certifications in elementary education and special education. I have had a lot of teaching experience with students from ages 5-21 with multiple disabilities. I have also taught in a 7th grade learning support classroom. I am very good with teaching the subjects of reading and writing however I have taught students science, history, and math as well. Teaching is my passion so I do take it very seriously and want the best for all my students. When I was in school I was an average student who had to work extra hard to earn good grades. Now as a teacher and through my own experiences as a student, my goal is to provide students with all the tools they need to understand various concepts. I also like to make sure that students understand the importance of what they are learning prior to teaching the lesson. I think this helps them see that the information they are learning is useful in their future and it makes them take learning a lot more seriously. I also enjoy having some fun while teaching to make lessons more creative and interesting to my students. I am really looking forward to hearing from you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have modified each of my lesson plans to meet the needs of each of my students.
I have been teaching in an autistic classroom for 7 years. I have a level II teaching certification in special education that I obtained in April 2013. I also am trained in ABA (applied behavior analysis). During my 7 years of teaching I have assisted students with Autism who have both academic and behavior challenges. Throughout the school day I implement various token economies and behavior support plans as well as teaching procedures such as discrete trial, chaining, and shaping procedures.
I started playing basketball in 5th grade and continued to play all the way up through college. My position was point guard so I have experience with ball handling and shooting. This is my favorite sport and I really love teaching children basketball so they grow to love it just like I have. If you pick me as your coach we will have alot of fun while learning all you need to know about basketball.
As of January 2013, I completed all coursework at Cabrini College to achieve my elementary education certification. I completed my student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom at an elementary school in King of Prussia, PA in Fall 2012. I passed my elementary Praxis test last March 2012. I received my certificate to teach K-6th in January 2013.
I played soccer in high school for all 4 years. Senior year (2003) I received all Catholic. In order to get this award you need to be nominated by not only your own coach, but other coaches from Catholic high schools in the league as well. After high school I played soccer for my college, Penn State Abington. I played for two years. Both years I had the most scored goals on the team. I continue to play on a women's soccer league in King of Prussia currently on the weekend.
In May 2007, I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree and a certification in special education. In August 2007, I began working as a special education teacher for students between the ages 15-21 that have multiple disablities. Some disabilities include: Autism, Down Syndrome, visually impaired, Cerebral Palsy. I have been working at the same school for 5 years now. Being a special education teacher truly is my passion.
For the past 4 years I have been tutoring students who need assistance in the area of study skills. During these sessions I help them write more clear/concise notes on each subject material. I also taught students various ways to study for tests/quizzes such as making a review test with notes, using flashcards for vocabulary, and acronyms to help remember important terminology. I have assisted students in elementary grades to high school with study skills.
